I do not like Applebee's. I literally settled here as I met w/ my gf for shopping.
We did Happy Hour and I will say that I was very happy that they had Lemonade. One of my fave sips is Vodka and Lemonade and unlike most bars- they had it. So there's my good thing to say. As for bites, my gf did chicken fingers- she said it was meh and I did the mozzarella sticks. I love Cheese so I never really go wrong with that. Will I trip up and land in Applebee's again? Most likely. I can work w/ what's available…sometime.
Because I'm happy! Is the song that was playing as we arrived for happy hour. Hoping the song was inspiration for the night we sat in the bar area. Except for the table behind us with children, the experience was pleasant overall.
We took advantage of the happy hour specials and ordered a food items off of the appetizer menu that were half off. We ordered boneless chicken wings, mozzarella sticks and quesadillas with no bacon. The food did not take long to come out which was nice considering how crowded the restaurant was. All the food came out hot and our waiter remembered no bacon! I love me some good customer service.
To go along with our appetizers and to distract us from the adorably loud kids behind us, we ordered some cocktails as well. As per our waiter's suggestion we ordered strawberry margaritas. Our waiter warned us that the Bahama Mamas were not very strong and we wanted some bang for our buck. Our first round was decent, mine was on the rocks and hers was frozen, no complaints. However my second round of margaritas on the rocks tasted more like juice than a margarita. I chopped it up to being busy but that was the end of my happy hour indulgement of adult beverages.
Besides that, the experience was pretty much typical. I will say that our server was attentive and checked in on us often. I was pleased with that because like I said it was busy.
This is probably the worst Applebee's I have ever been to. I haven't been a fan of Applebee's for quite a while now because I think their menu selections fell off. This particular Applebee's is always crowded. We only went here because we were on our way to a Yankees game and did not want McDonald's, pizza or anything else locally. We wanted to go to a restaurant in Manhattan, but time was not on our side.
For a party of two, the wait wasn't bad (25 minutes), but since we wanted to get to the game before it actually started, we decided to sit at the bar. We ordered the "2 for $20" deal just to be cheap. Our appetizer took a while and so did our main course. I won't review the food because, hey, it's Applebee's. The service was mediocre and the place was packed.
Maybe the service might be better on a day when the Yankees aren't playing, but if you have a desire for Applebee's and this is the closest one to you, make sure you take a look at the Yankees schedule first before dining at this particular location.
