  1. Order the Mami! This excellent arepa is filled to the brim with moist, savory pork. (It's also pretty greasy, which likely contributes to the flavor.) I also tried the beef (mini empanadas, pretty good), shark (not worth the novelty/price in my previous visit here), and tres leches (also worth checking out), but really it's the pork that's the true standout and will keep me coming back here.

Service was a bit on the slow side that late Friday evening we went. One waiter was staffed to the entire place, so he was stretched a bit thin at times. It took him a while to bring us our waters (which arrived a few minutes after the appetizer did), and later to refill them. He also forgot one of my orders. While this fortunately worked out in my favor since my order was more filling than expected, but he still shouldn't be forgetting orders.

  2. Ahhhh-mazing! I went to the museum of moving image and came to this place afterwards to grab a bite. got the black bean and avocado arepa and it was soooo damn good. properly filled with tons of flavor- they have a huge selection and heard the ones filled with meat are great. i would come back here multiple times to try more flavors!

  3. AREPA PABELLLON. Yes, it is as good as everyone is saying it is. My boyfriend and I couldn't decide between that arepa or the MAMI, so naturally we got both. No matter which one you get, your stomach will be happy. A lot bigger than when you started, but it'll be happy. I especially liked the unexpected maduros stuffed in there and their green sauce!

To finish off the meal, I got the tres leches ($4). It could use a bit less cinnamon, but it was devoured anyway. It was gone less than two minutes after it was set in front of us.

Aside from the food, service is good and the prices are great. No doubt I'll come back to a gem like this.

  4. Went on a date since Grenacha was closed and it was right next door. Very impressed with the shrimp, not so much with the beef. Also we ordered a mixed seafood appetizer which was not good at all, didn't taste fresh and whatever it was tossed in was bland. Service was ok, our waitress switched to a waiter in the middle of our meal and he was inattentive to refilling drinks.   Sat in the side room and the booth side was sweltering with heat under the seat, had to switch seats with my date. The bathroom was kept adequately clean and well stocked with paper towels and tp. Would not return here if I had the choice between Grenacha and this place.

  5. These are some fancy arepas, but they are definitely worth it. They are fairly big–two can probably make a meal–and come out filled to the brim with ingredients and flavor. The roast pork, which appears in several arepas, is really quite tender and tasty. There are so many different combinations that it shouldn't be too hard to find one that fits anyone's tastes. The corn biscuit is crispy and has a great complementary texture. The patacon was another beast all together. Almost double the size of an arepa, it was basically a huge delicious sandwich, but with crispy tostones rather than bread. This made for some messy eating (knife and fork couldn't cut it either since the outer layer was hard), but it was worth it.

The passion fruit juice was a delicious refreshing drink to go with all of this savory food.

  6. I've been here twice, it's kind of small here but there is plenty of seating since they have a rear section as well, The arepas were so good I forgot to take pictures! Most of them are under $10 and they have platters too, they are a good size too, I ate 2 of them and I was full for the night and I have a big appetite! Would definitely head back there!

  7. How did I not know of this place? I mean, I drive by the restaurant every week and have eaten just next door.

I went here with a party of 8 today after a strong recommendation from one of the couples. We were able to get seated quickly and ordered our foods pretty seamlessly.

I had the arepas pabellon which comes with shredded beef, black beans and white cheese and it was delicious!! I really liked the balance of everything.

My wife had the reina which is the cold salad chicken arepa which she liked. She also had the passion fruit mimosas which came with fruits which she enjoyed.

Others in our table ordered the patacon which looked amazing and large.

The food was great but I think the real highlight were the two sauces. They had a cilantro/yogurt based creamy sauce which was good in itself but even better with their hot sauce which was subtly sweet with a definite kick.

    I will go back.

  8. Never in my life had I had an Arepa or knew what one was until my co-workers and I stepped into this little gem. Small Venezulean establishment but after you taste the food, you will forget about the size of the restaurant. Ive visited twice already and would love to try every Arepa on the menu. The prices are so reasonable with the cheapest being about $7.50. and they are super flavorful. At first I thought I could eat about two but honestly one is filling. The sauces to accompany the arepas are phenomenal. Try the green sauce. I have no clue whats in it but I guarantee that its a hit. Great customer service and the passionfruit Sangria is a must have! My co workers and I will definitely be regulars here.
