Cute little spot, very comfortable & inviting.
Got a few slices with my BF on a Saturday.
I'm a pretty hungry woman & after 2 slices it was uncomfortable to walk out of the restaurant lol. Def worth it though.
A decent amount of tables & chairs, they do a happy hour which is cool.
Had the artichoke & the crab, 2 thumbs up
4.5
No longer need to trek all the way to lower Manhattan to grab a delicious artichoke slice!
Can't say enough about how good that freakin' slice is. Loads of gooey mozzarella, drenched in a secret white sauce and a heaping helping of artichoke hearts on each pie. This pie is also super doughy so one slice is more than enough for a hungry me.
Other than the signature artichoke pie, they've got some classics like the vodka square, meatball parm, margarita, crab and a Staten Island slice which contains red onions, ricotta, and meatball.
There have been multiple occasions where I've tried other slices and although I do appreciate the variety, I'm gonna have to opt for the artichoke slice from now on, and maybe the crab slice.
The space is huge with ample seating, so not only does it prevent over-crowdedness but eating in is always a nice option to have. They've got a mini bar with a pretty nice selection of beers on tap and the service is great. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic.
My only complaint is that when they're reheating the pizza, they take the pizza out of the oven too early keeping me from enjoying a gooey/cheesey slice of artichoke pizza.
I have a cousin from LA who visits me about twice a year here in NY. And the reason she visits isn't actually me, but it's Artichoke Pizza. That's right. Her first stop as soon as she gets off the plane is Artichoke. It's almost a religious experience for us. I live in Astoria, and I didn't even know an Artichoke existed here until she told me.
Anyway, since I'm an Astorian now, we hit this one up yesterday instead of one of the Manhattan ones, and it's definitely my favorite one. We were expecting a stand where we got our slice and had to eat outside, so it was a pleasant surprise to see tables, chairs, and an adorably charming interior. There's a bathroom as well. They even serve wine and beer, so this could be a cute date spot, too. As for the pizza, breathtaking as always. In my humble opinion, the other Artichokes don't have anything on this one.
Hallelujah!
I have always heard so many good things about this place, and let me just tell you, it is definitely worth the hype!
I stepped in here today with a friend, after a whole day of starving, and ordered a slice of their specialty pizza, the artichoke slice. I was thinking I would need more than just one slice of pizza to satisfy my hunger, but this wasn't a regular slice of pizza. For starters, not only was it a ginormous slice, it was thick and creamy, and had the perfect crust to cheese and cream ratio. It was so filling and delicious, I have no words to describe it. I will definitely be going back, and if you have yet to try their pizza, I recommend you go asap because you have no idea what you're missing out on!
I had my doubts about this place after hearing about all the glowing reviews and crazy hype, but you know an NYC pizza joint is legit when it's endorsed by Leonardo of the Ninja Turtles.
This location is the sixth to open and carries the same deliciously amazing artichoke pies from the original location as well as all the other varieties, but without the crowded madness and cramped quarters that can sour a dining experience, no matter how good the food is. Plus, you can't miss it: it's right outside the Astoria Ditmars stop
The artichoke pie is as delicious as advertised with a secret creamy artichoke sauce and mozzarella on top that could be considered lethal napalm if eaten too quickly after being pulled fresh out of the oven. Yet, it's a risk worth taking each and every time.
Throw in a $4 happy hour from 4-8 and 11-1, and you have a perfect NYC pizza experience but without the crazy hassle.
Average slice of pizza. Not special. It always rubs me the wrong way when I enter a restaurant and off the bat I get a rude vibe off of them. However, when other people walk in after me, the worker is a totally different person. In this case, this is what happened.
The guy was pretty rude and at one point he asked if I was eating here. It almost seemed like he didnt want us to eat in there but we did anyways. I swear he was rude to selected people. But anyways, I got the artichoke pizza and it was okay. The sauce was very overpowering but I finished my slice because I was pretty hungry. One time thing for me.
Ordered three pies from here for a Super Bowl party and everyone loved the Sicilian vodka pie..the artichoke pies on the other hand were nothing like the ones you get in the city.. There was something off about them. Couldn't figure out if it was the dough or the topping. I have ordered an artichoke slice from this location in the past and had the same experience. I guess I will still be making a trip over the bridge for the authentic tasting artichoke pizza.
So glad to know that there is a location in Astoria. Depending on the time of day parking can be a bit difficult. For $4.00 I am definitely a happy camper. I ordered a slice of the artichoke pizza which is saucy and packed full of flavor. The slices are also very huge. Also when you check in on yelp you get $2.00 off.
