  1. I figured I would check out Asiam Thai Cuisine since I was on the hunt for other potentially good restaurants around my workplace.  My first impression upon entering was that it was dark as fuck inside.  I was suspicious of how empty the place was, but it seemed that my suspicion was warranted after sitting at a table that smelled like vomit.  I was surprised and decided to move to a different table.  The food itself was decent.  All in all, I didn't think the meal was worth it.  I was disappointed by the taste to be honest.  Maybe I just chose the wrong dishes?  I've eaten here twice and I would say I'd rather choose an alternative restaurant.

  2. My boyfriend and I came here to redeem our groupon, $22 for 2 people. Now that I think of it, it didn't feel seem like it was $51.85 value worth of food. First, there is a "different" menu for anyone coming in with a groupon, which is one white sheet of paper. The only appetizer we can get was the chef's special. At $14.95 value, the chef's special wasn't too special. There are about eight entrees you and your plus one groupon partner can choose from. I got the chicken green curry ($8.95) which was creamy and spicy. It was pretty good. My bf got the beef pad thai. That was ok. We had better pad thai at other restaurant. I thought the pad thai portion was small. The green curry was a decent size. We got free fried banana for checking in on yelp. I thought it was okay. Being that it was free, I can't complain. Oh our, meal came with two Chang beer. It wasn't bad  I'm not much of a drinker so I really can't comment on it.
The service was not so good. After sitting down, we didn't get water. We had to ask for water after a few minutes of waiting. It took forever to get our food also. A couple came in after us and got their meal before us. The bathroom is so bizarre. The door is hard to open and the bathroom is dark. One light in the ceiling but yet, it is just dark. Forget about checking if there's food in your teeth.
And for groupon purchasers, be prepared to pay $12 for taxes and tip. So for $22 + $12 = $34 seems like the average cost I paid at other Thai restaurants without a groupon and limited menu.

  3. I was greeted by a friendly worker and she showed me to my table. I came with a party of 3 and we had a fairly large table.

The restaurant is a fairly medium size venue with a small amount of tables but it's very comfortable with great nice music.

I ordered some Thai fried rice with chicken and it came in 15 minutes. The dish was outstanding and very tasty. I missed out on the opportunity for desert but I heard its delicious.

Overall the food was great, along with the atmosphere and the service was very friendly.

  4. Stopped by to try the $7 chicken pad Thai on the way home from work. It was empty, and was served quickly. The food wasn't great. It was passable with the hot sauce added as a quick place to pick up dinner. I wouldn't make a trip back for it.

However, the waitress did apologize at the end because the scallion was missing and we got ice cream so I might give it another try.

  5. My fav Thai place in the area! They have a great lunch special 7 days a week where u get two apps and a main dish for $7. They also have a take out menu lunch special for $6 for almost any of their main dishes. You can add soup or app for a small price.

I love their pad see ew. Awesome portion and great flavor. All their curries are awesome and the service is awesome. This just a solid Thai place that fulfills my Thai food craving. Yum.

  6. Can't complain about a $22 groupon deal for 2, with appetizer sampler, booze, and entree. Of note, there is a added service fee on top of the groupon deal plus tax.

Had the green curry with chicken-huge serving size and would recommend. Also would get the appetizer sampler again too.
Check in through yelp for a free fried banana dessert!

Also, there's plenty of seating here throughout the day.

  7. The Asiam Thai restaurant in the East Village had exceeded my expectations.

I came here after my errand at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary nearby. The place has a modest Thai décor with large windows that are indeed very inviting.

I started with a Chef's special mixed appetizers, accompanied with a cold bottle of Singha beer. The plate included steamed dumplings, fried shrimps, chicken satay, spring roll and salad with miso dressing. I recommend this platter since you get to venture with different dishes for the price of one, and it was freshly made and delicious.
I tried the coconut milk soup with shrimp which tasted like many other Thai restaurants that I've been to.
For the main course, I had the fried tilapia with basil fried rice and seafood basil sauce. Although the main entrée did not blow me away, it tasted good and both were plated very nicely.

This place is modest and an inexpensive Thai restaurant with great customer service in the area.

  8. I think this one of the Thai places that may be a hit or miss depending on what you order and who serves you.

My friends and I stumbled upon this place, due to its proximity to our parking spot. We ventured inside. The vibe was dark and quiet (which was unusual for me because dark usually equates to loud clubby music). I thought the quietness was a bit odd- but my friends and I were just completely hungry.

We ordered endless flow of drinks. As a famous lyrical poet puts it- another one, another one, another one. All of the drinks were 5/5. Plus, the value was so good for the area. Cocktails were ~$5 for the happy hour that runs 8-10pm. That's unreal in NYC.

I ordered the Chicken Basil Noodle which was very good. My friends ordered the Pad Thais which were also really good (albeit a little spicy for one of them). So if you're a wuss don't get medium spicy.

Overall, we had a good time. If you're really thirsty come here. Btw- chicken for chicken apps are dry. Don't get them. Spring rolls were good!

    3.5~
