Food here is only OK. Far far too much sugar added unnecessarily, the portions are not generous, and the price is higher than what you'd expect for a neighborhood Chinese joint of middling quality. I doubt I'll come back.
The delivery came in record time. The food is fresh and comes hot. We got the Singapore Chow Mei Fun, shrimp with broccoli, and vegetable fried rice. I specified medium spicy for the Singapore. It's prepared with shrimp, chicken, and pork and they fry it with egg. Go try it now. The shrimp with broccoli is served with a generous portion of shrimp. There is no wrong vegetable in their fried rice that's stirred to perfection. Each of our three orders came with fortune cookies and a packet of oolong tea. As if the timeliness and quality of the food weren't enough to give them a competitive edge over neighborhood Chinese fast food joints, they add little touches like the fortune cookies and tea that seal the deal.
Finally some decent Chinese delivery in Ditmas Park. Home sick and needing soup and noodles, I found Yen Yen's menu online and read some good reviews. Chicken rice soup hit the spot and wasn't too salty. Fried dumplings were a delivery blessing – not on par with really excellent dumplings, but mercifully void of that thick dough-verkill that plagues every other Chinese place in the hood. Veggie Mei Fun was also better than most local fare – good veggie assortment and taste other than saltiness.
For the same price as the other places (with the exception of more pricey but more creative House Specialties), Yen Yen is definitely the way to go. It's not authentic by any means, but it's much better than just-edible delivery. Such a relief!
I have never seen such low quality in take out sushi orders. The first time I came here for dinner with my family; it was pretty good. The dine in vs take out has such a large contrast. We ordered the other week and I got a sashimi combo. The fish was poor quality, I almost wanted to puke. It had that day old look when you know the fish has been sitting there for awhile. The rest was alright. Today, my dad ordered some take out for lunch. I got a sashimi lunch box- it came with FOUR PIECES OF SUSHI AND TWO PIECES OF SHUMAI. A complete rip off. I have never seen any sushi place give 4 pieces of sushi in a lunch box before. How cheap, and ridiculous. We will not be ordering from them again.
This is definitely the best Chinese food I've gotten in Brooklyn. Never want to order from anywhere else now. The food was a little late, but it was still super hot when it arrived – it was pouring rain out, so not surprising they were busy. All the sauces are really fresh and you can tell are real and not some weird gelatinous thing.
Will order 100000 more times.
In comparison to all the thousands of Chinese fast food corner restaurants in NY, this place is really the BEST (locally and fast food wise)!!!
Their food is always consistently GOOD! My best friend and I usually go here for their twilight dinner special (three course meal), which runs from $10-$14 depending on which protein you decide to get.
I highly recommend their beef skewers appetizer and their shrimp with broccoli–it's beyond yummy. Their fried rice is also the real deal, because instead of serving you "yellow rice" they coat their white rice with soy sauce and then fry them!!
The best part about this restaurant is that you can actually sit in and be served by a waiter and they also have a bar incase you like to wash your food down with alcohol.
This place is the best in the neighborhood. A bit pricey but I don't mind paying more. It's not your typical Chinese takeout, it tastes more authentic.
I've lived in this neighborhood my whole life and had never tried it because i'm very loyal to my regular chinese take out place. one night i wanted to actually sit down and be served so i gave it a shot. I must say it will be my last time. Not only is it over priced chinese take out food but the food wasnt good at all. And the service was horrible. I dont care if the service is bad at asian restaurants but the food has to be good. over all my whole experience was a disappointment and i left feeling like i should order take out from my go to place.
the highlight of the place was the crispy noodles with duck sauce they served while taking forever to bring out my food.
