While looking for a pizza place to bring to our friends house we Avellino.. All I can say is.. Yes, the reviews are correct they have great pizza.. Family owned, very small shop, parking is hard btw
Sooooo my genius boyfriend read the Yelp review about someones cousin being the cook from Brooklyn and assumed it would be Brooklyn quality italian food (what were used too). Unfortunately it was not exactly what we were hoping for. The place looks like a hole in the wall and granted some of the best restaurants make up the lack of atmosphere with their quality of food, this place was not one of them. I have not had their pizza so maybe thats the way to go? But I ordered penne vodka and it was extremely buttery and lets be honest, you know a penne vodka is top notch if they put peas in it………. There were no peas. Genius ordered baked ziti – there was not ziti, it was baked penne. Granted I would never order that for takeout, he thought the sauce was kind of spicy and just tasted off. Maybe it was an off night? I don't know. They have really good reviews on Yelp, so thats why I was a tad bit confused. Nevertheless, I don't anticipate going back… Sorry Avellino!
I could deal with the bad customer service, the hole in the wall shop, and even the lack of cleanliness. I've been here a couple of times and I would have said that their pizza isn't bad, I would have even given them a good review if I hadn't have just been there recently and discovered a piece of plastic in my antipasto salad and a baked on produce sticker in my pizza. Unfortunately, my body doesn't have the ability to break down polypropylene and cellulose, so that's a no-go.
Nice quality control guys, just lost a customer on that one.
