Small and quaint little café on Bell Blvd wonderfully joined at the hip with Avli Greek tavern, The café is the perfect bridge so to speak to transition from your big Greek meal at the tavern over to the café for delicious dessert and coffee, better yet skip the main meal entirely and just come for dessert, either way you cant lose.
When you first walk in you notice the clean and beautifully decorated walls, plants, pictures and simple fixtures. The interior color palette is easy on the eyes and draws you in. The café is divided into 2 parts. When you first enter that portion is only for drinks to take out. The restaurant is located inside,
The menu is simple offering ice cream, Greek yogurts and pastries, waffles, crepes and crostini. Everything on the menu looked so delicious by description but we had to make a choice! We ordered the "The Dream" crepe and it sure was a dream! filled with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, granola and a custard cream sprinkled with powder sugar. The crepe was large and cooked perfectly moist and delicious!
We were not finished and the selections of crostini's intrigued us. We were drawn to the description of the "Imam Biyaldi" baked eggplant, feta, caramelized onions, plum tomatoes and hummus. Let me tell you something folks the flavors were down right banging!!! Who would ever thought that a glorified piece of toast when stacked with these ingredients would transform it to something savory and Awesome!
There is also a nice selection of wines on the menu, but we ordered the single shot Greek coffee and cappuccino instead. Now the cappuccino was good, but if you never had Greek coffee be warned, it's just like Turkish coffee, served in a small espresso cup and it's strong! The coffee is more bitter and earthy and the grinds on the bottom of the cup is thick and viscous. The Greek coffee is good but it is an acquired taste.
The service here was top notch! Our server Michelle was sweet and took good care of us, She was very knowledgeable of the menu items and also informed us on how the Greek coffee was made and served. Since I had this type of coffee before Michelle and the Barista came to me separately and asked me if i didn't like it they would gladly exchange it for me for something else. My friends that is what you call customer service at it's best! Thanks Michelle! Thanks Barista Dude!
As Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator would say "I'll be back"! Next time we have our sights fixed on the waffles!! Michelle, table for two please! Thank you.
Adorable new cafe opened up by the successful restaurant Avli, located right next door to each other. The decor is modern and whimsical, with shiny stainless machines making almost every caffeinated drink you could want. They also have crepes — the S'mores crepe is delicious! But they also have traditional Greek desserts if you want. It's the perfect place to have a coffee if you're waiting for dinner next door or for dessert after your meal!
The workers are super friendly. They have a bar area for coffee and dessert but also seated tables. They do play Top Hits music, but the music isn't too overpowering so you won't be screaming to speak to each other.
I JUST ate here and I'm stunned. That was probably the best gyro I've ever had. I really do look forward to dining in one day.
The cashier was very friendly and offered great recommendations. I say great cause I went with them. When you order a Gyro Sandwich ($8) you get to choose two meats and they've got a pretty good selection of them.
-Chicken/Pork Souvlaki
-Chicken/Pork Doner
-Gyro (YEEERO)
-Loukaniko (Traditional Greek sausage)
-Seftelia (another traditional Greek sausage)
-Falafel
I went with Falafel because I've craving it, and the Loukaniko (cashier's recommendation).
It also came with 2 huge sides of Tahini & Tzatziki, which you can already tell was made in-house. The Gyro was HUGE! The falafel was nice and crispy and the Loukaniko was absolutely delicious. It's got a weird but pleasant aroma to it which made it taste even better. The tahini also had a nice toasty aroma to it and was super creamy.
Also, I normally lean towards #teamtahini but after having their Tzatziki, I had to join #teamtzatziki today. It was rich, creamy, and tangy at the same damn time!
Not to mention they recently opened up a "cafe" next door for a completely different experience. These guys are killin' it.
I love avli. I've been coming here many times the past year and I can't stop and won't stop. I always get the same thing- chicken souvlaki platter.
They have lunch specials and the chicken souvlaki during lunch is $9.45! It comes with your choice of lemon potatoes, fries or rice. They give you Greek salad and choice of soda or water (Poland Spring not tap) and also pita bread with tzatziki.
Like everyone else says, their tzatziki is amazing!! I can eat and eat and eat and snack on pita and tzatziki sauce all day.
Their chicken souvlaki is amazing as well. I'm a big fan of their souvlaki Keke and get the lemon potatoes! It has a perfectly seasoned potatoes with lemon juice/flavoring. And even if I love fries, I always get the lemon potatoes here.
The staff were all very nice and quick.
If you haven't been here, GO GO GO!
[This review, strangely enough, got moved to the page of the co-business, Avli. I'm reposting it here now.] My time at Avli the Kafe was superb, especially for their opening night: the service was a strong point, I liked my crepe and tea, and to top it off, I'm glad they were playing, on the big screen, the Oklahoma City Thunder versus Dallas Mavericks NBA playoffs game.
I had the white chocolate crepe with raspberries, and I give the Avli staff props for presenting it beautifully an using fresh crepe batter and raspberries. I wish there was a bit more white chocolate in the crepe, since the taste of the berries was overpowering. I appreciate that two servers took note when I gave them this feedback, and I trust they'll make changes to the dish soon.
I ordered the chamomile tea, too, and I like that the staff seeped loose leaf tea. I got two generous cups of this tea (their tea mugs are large), and its subtle taste balanced out the more intense flavor of the crepe.
The service was great: I appreciated that my server was okay with my request for cold water in my tea so it wouldn't be boiling hot, and it's great that they asked how I enjoyed my food too.
My experience here shows that the staff here had a very strong night. Knowing that they just opened and are working things out about their food and business, I'm sure I'll have even more positive things to say when I visit again and update my review later on in time.
First impression walking in, I was expecting overpriced, minimal portioned, over-rated food.
However it was quite the opposite, great price for a sit-down & a good amount of food.
I had the chicken doner platter with lentil soup. It comes with pita bread & the white greek sauce. Everything tasted great and very flavorful.
The soup came in a regular sized bowl which served plenty but might get you feeling full if you eat too quick!
The chicken was very juicy and had a nice bite to it, wasn't overly dried or seemed like it was half-ass made.
Food display wasn't eye candy but it was assorted well.
OVERALL; place is great for cheaper meals.
Outdoor seating, nice interior and happy staff.
p.s. One negative was that since it was a warm night so I guess the mosquitos were swarming in from the door that leads to the outdoor section.
Left with about 3-5 mosquito bites and it was also vey irritating when eating but I'll just consider this a rare-occurence 🙂
Loved this place.
I ordered the pork souvlaki sandwich.
The tzatziki was the best I've ever had!
I'd definitely go back!
Best. Greek. Place. Everrrr. My friends and I got the chicken souvlaki (chunks) and chicken donor (strips) gyros and they were AMAZING. The chicken was so tender and flavorful; to die for. But the one thing that keeps calling my name at night is their tzatziki sauce. Perfection. Great service, great food, great atmosphere…what more can you ask for in a restaurant! 5 stars!
