Bagel Hut

“They also have the best white fish salad and their light tuna fish salad is so good I used to have my parents bring it to my dorm when I was 3 hours away in college.”

“They got sunflower seed bagels which if it comes right out of the oven I can eat like 3 no problem nom nom nom!”

“The pastries there also looked again, but I felt a little guilty in adding another 400 calories (brownie or cupcake) to my already filling meal.”

  1. Amazing fresh bagels that will get your jaw sore. Now that's a motto. However, watch out how you explain why your jaw is sore. Ladies, that's a good nights work. Gentlemen, be ready for a plethora of mean jokes from the guys.

That's how you know when you have a great bagel in your hands. It opens at 4:00AM so it's a fine place to go in Great Neck after a long night of drinking and partying.
Get the lox spread with scallion.

To experience Jewish food properly, I also tried the whitefish, which actually is pretty yummy and a nice change from tuna salad.

  2. Bagel Hut has the best BAGELS in Great Neck.  However, I like the flats from Best Bagels better, they're bigger over there.

The best bagels they have are multigrain, sesame, sunflower, and FRENCH TOAST!  They also have the best white fish salad and their light tuna fish salad is so good I used to have my parents bring it to my dorm when I was 3 hours away in college.

Beware:  The high school kids hit up this spot during the week for lunch, so the line can sometimes be out the door.  There's also little room to sit down and is usually a hit or miss with that.  Sign up for their newsletter to get coupons!

  3. My co-worker lives in Great Neck and always brings in these bagels from
Bagel Hut. I decided to give one a try. I had the sesame flagel with butter. I never am the type to get a flagel over a normal bagel but my co-worker insisted that they are very good. She wasn't wrong. It was very fresh and even seemed to be less filling I guess with less bread. From what I have seen and eaten, this place makes a pretty nice product.

  4. My Nana loves Bagel Hut.

Now, if you knew my Nana, that would be enough.  Case closed.  Best bagels in Great Neck, best bagels on Long Island, best bagels in NY.  Likely the best bagels in the country, and quite possibly the world.

High praise, I know.  But you don't know my Nana.  She knows what's good and accepts only the best.

And when I was living in the Bagel wasteland of Northern California, Nana brought bags and bags of hot Bagel Hut bagels on the plane.  And even after a long day of traveling, these were still the best bagels ever.

Now, they have these new mini-bagel things.  Nana said they were good, but I was skeptical.  And Nana was right again.  All of the flavor and joy, with a fraction of the calories.  Sometimes you just want a little bit of a bagel… even if it is the best bagel in the world.

But in all seriousness, for me, these are the bagels that all other bagels are measured against.  And truly, most bagels don't even come close.  Flavor, texture, crust, and crew are all exceptional.

It would be nice to have a place to sit and nosh in the store… but for my favorite bagels, I am willing to eat them in the car.

  5. great bagel, it could use a tad more salt though, nice crispy crust with plenty of toppings mixed with a warm soft center. This is how bagels should be. Bagels plain are only .95 can't beat that.

  6. Walk in here and order a whole wheat flat with Munster cheese, lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard on the side. If you want to blend in with the rest of the people ordering this around you, keep your giant sunglasses on, have a big fistful of keys, look down disinterestedly at your iPhone, and whatever you do, do not look up to make eye contact while you are ordering. Then walk over to the counter to pay, obviously don't say thank you.

In all seriousness though, these bagels are super good. Coffee is decent. If you go anytime while High School is in session though, just be prepared  to deal with what was described above.
