I stopped in here because Dunkin Donuts had been depressing me lately and what Long Islander doesn't need a good old fashioned bacon egg and cheese to start off their mornings.
It was the first time I tried Bagelman of Mineola, while not easily spotted from Jericho Tpke, being able to turn out of the parking lot from the side street and stoplight is a big plus.
I ordered a simple bacon, egg and cheese to eat at my office. Biting in, the taste was very good, but too for my preferences.
The shop itself is fairly spacious, clean, and well-signed. The display cases of all the specialty cream cheeses were fun to look at during my wait, and I may need a big scooping of the chocolate one on another occasion.
Another big plus was there wasn't a line, just one other person in front of me and others popping in quick to just get a coffee.
i also spied what looked like a devilishly delicious chocolate crumb cake. Chocolate, if you haven't realized, is my Kryptonite.
It's all about the quality of the bagels to me. I see the crazy # of good reviews of A&S in Hempstead, but personally I don't think their bagel are all that, too doughy and not crispy enough. I dig that hard outer shell,
Bagelman is got it! I love their bagels!
I know it's kind of a personal choice, and on LI, you've got literaly hundreds of choices, but I love their bagels.
Sure the place cosmetically is nothing special, but the bagels are A+++.
If you like cruncy bagel crust, check. If you like not too large, not too small, check. If you like not so doughy center, check.
Seriously, I'll put these bages up there with the best I've ever had.
Easy parking (that a premium), fast courteous service, atmosphere clean,
I think you can tell a lot about a bagel store by how many people are willing to stand on line. Only every now and then am I surprised that people will stand on line for nothing special bagels.
Me, I really need something in the morning and since I pass this place every morning, I decided to give it a whirl. There weren't all that many people in line- 3 to be exact and only 2 people working there so that should have told me all I wanted to know.
I hung in there and ordered a garlic bagel. Well- they don't have garlic bagels. I thought that was a bagel standard but not here. Ok, give me an everything and a large coffee.
The bagel was just ok- nothing great. The butter was the whipped type and I hate the whipped type but it was also tasteless.
Coffee was very good though- so 2 stars for that but that bagel- no way!
Nothing too impressive. Bagels are just average. I ordered an egg white wrap. It was all wrap and hardly any eggs. My kids said the bagels were a bit tough to chew.
I would not go out of my way to visit again. Has to be better choices in the area.
These bagels aren't the best I've had. There are so many good bagel shops in the area that I can't give this one that high of a rating.
The bagels didn't taste quite as doughy or soft as the other bagels. I wasn't the only one who thought so. I had three other people tell me similar sentiments that these bagels weren't as good. I even toasted one of them and it made it marginally better.
The 1 pound cream cheese is $10 and it's more of a whipped texture.

These are the best bagels…. That's right… The best bagels… A little crunch, with a soft tasty inside. Long Island bagels made the old fashioned way!
They have a complete deli along with some homemade breakfast and lunch items… Definitely worth a try!
If you like smoked salmon, make sure your try their salmon/cream cheese. A flavorful cream cheese with plenty of salmon chunks.
There is a wonderful staff that greets you with a smile… all the time, even when it's an "out the door line."
