My friend lives a block or so away, and this is his favorite deli so we come here often. I think he is mostly amused by the name, because it is an otherwise average place. Just what you'd expect — sandwiches and bodega-worthy groceries at typical prices.
It's always open and has the basic essentials … I came here around 1am one night and the place was still pretty crowded.
I find it a little funny, however, how the guy behind the register will literally watch you as you shop … well more freaky actually =.
None-the-less, if I'm passing through this side of the area … then this is a good place to stop at to get what you need. But for the majority of the time Apple Tree is the place for me!
A little tip- if you use credit card the same items mysteriously cost $1 more. If you ask them about it they say it's "tax." Use cash and save a dollar.
Open 24 hours in a neighborhood where nothing is. Their sandwiches are tasty, and the chips and junk food selection is comprehensive and even includes some international treats. A breakfast sandwich and coffee is $3, and they don't skimp on fillings. Not a spot I would travel a distance to visit, but if you're in the neighborhood, this will fulfill your needs.
