  1. I visited Baked several times. Now we've become more pleasantly acquainted. The bakery looks clean and fun with the large neon B in the back. There's a good amount of seating and the bathroom is located down the stairs by the doorway. None of that you have to purchase something to use the bathroom nonsense. I especially like the large window in the back that looks into their kitchen.
Apparently, there's wifi, but I think they gave me the wrong password. Besides hanging out in the cafe, I've always tried a few things.

Chocolate Chunk cookie – good, just a classic choc chip cookie.
Lemonlime bar – a tart custard over a graham cracker crust, with powdered sugar and what looks like lime zest on top.
Banana Chocolate Chip slice – very moist and fluffy. It made me think that banana bread should always have chocolate chips.
Sweet & Salty Brownie – excellent brownie. I love sweet & salty combinations and the salt crystals on top did it for me. I got a corner piece for $2, which is a little smaller and a little cheaper than the other brownie squares. Plus, I like the crust.

There is a lot of variety here, so I like to stop by for a quick afternoon bite. Most of what I have tried is reasonably priced for around $2-$3. I haven't tried anything that has really wowed me, but they're pretty good.

  2. My wife found this place conducting a quick survey of breakfast places in TriBeCa during a recent visit to NYC for a show.

My breakfast sandwich blew me away!  The obviously fresh sourdough bread, and the gooey combination of perfectly cooked, soft eggs with avocado satisfied my protein and fat breakfast addiction.  We shared a cinnamon bun on the Bolt Bus.  It was equally delightful and satisfying.  The coffee was sharp and balanced and surprisingly good.

We were happy to find a solid breakfast place in this section of town opening at 8am on a Sunday.  It made our morning.

Next time, I intend on trying one of the lunch specials.  The feature here is obviously the bread, but the entire menu seems so well-thought out that I needed to focus this review on the rest of the features.

  3. I've been dying to try this place, so when I was randomly in the neighborhood, I knew it was meant to be. It's easy to find the spot because there's a huge letter "B" in the back of the place that you can see from outside.

I really wanted to try the sliced cake, but they didn't have the flavor I wanted. Note: they only slice about two flavors of cake per day. I got the Salted Caramel (Twix) Bar instead. It's pretty good. It was a bit hard to bite into, but really does have a flavor reminiscent of a Twix candy bar.

I plan to come back for the cake, though! Word on the street (aka: told by a Baked Staff member) is that cake slices are half off after 5pm everyday.

  4. A cool cake shop with good cafe and lunch options in TriBeCa (there is a huge letter B in the back of the place). A chill place to sit down and enjoy lunch if you have enough time on workdays. I got chia bowl with my friend for lunch on a Friday. The place was not too crowded and we didn't need to wait long. The bowl is big and delicious! They also offer cake cooking class.

I would love to try their cakes/cup cake, and lunch options like sandwich/salad next time! Service is average tho (hope they can be more customer friendly and enthusiastic!)

  5. Really cute spot to chill in Tribeca.
We got the twix (snickers maybe?) bar and the lemon bar.
Both were ok, nothing too special. But the cold brew coffee was delicious.
It is only one of the only options for a small bite in the area on weekends, so it's pretty convenient. Would go again for the coffee and perhaps try a different pastry. There is a picture of chocolate cake on my screen right now from there and it's calling my name.

  6. Did someone say "Cake happy hour"? It took those three amazing words and $2 off my slice of a classic birthday cake with candy sprinkles to forget about my prior dental appointment aka expensive and very unpleasant torture. And to get swept away by my new relationship with Baked, on a cloud of homemade marshmallows. They looked dreamy but I opted to try another time.

My helper was serious but kind. She had that way of speaking as if she was reading from an instruction manual but it was all good stuff, so I listened to her with sitting-on-the-edge-of-my seat anticipation.

I appreciated the comfortable space–a very Times-Squarish glitzy "B" hanging in the back, and an odd mix of patio-style chairs and cafe tables with retro/art deco walls and lighting. Very homey.

I was only here for a quickie but when i'm in the area I'll return.

  7. Saw these guys at the Taste of Tribeca festival but I'd already used up all my stamps, so I just had to stop by the store after the fest. Great baked goods! I liked the salted caramel bar a lot, but the flourless chocolate cookie was the best. They had a ton of options so it was hard to pick! Definitely will return.

  8. So, it's only taken me 4 years to review Baked…shame, shame :-(. However, hopefully the 5 stars makes up for it! This review is for the newer location in TriBeCa, but the original location, and my first love, is in Red Hook (Brooklyn).

I fell in love with Baked after finding out that Oprah's favorite cupcake comes from this cute and tasty little bakery. Now, don't hate on "O"…I'm usually not a blind follower of everything she vouches for. But, I went through a cupcake phase and decided that treats are better (for my waistline) in small packages LOL. I was so impressed that I actually used Baked for my wedding cake and cupcake bar at my reception–HUGE Hit! The flavors are unique and decadent, not overly sweet, and with just the right amount of cake to icing ratio, which is very important, People!

The new location is super cute and has a nice area to eat your sweets. The bakery has numerous baked good options to appeal to you, but my faves are the Deep Dark Brownie, Sweet and Salty Brownie and Cupcakes in the following flavors: Green Tea (white almond cake w/ green tea buttercream); Pistachio (pistachio white cake w/ vanilla honey buttercream); Hummingbird (banana, coconut, pineapple and walnuts w/ cream cheese frosting–the BOMB); Lemondrop ( white lemon cake w/lemon curd filling and vanilla lemon buttercream) and Carrot (self explanatory, I hope :-).

Wait, is your mouth watering yet??? You can also order whole cakes in these flavors too, of course. Please note, the cupcake flavors vary daily so you may or may not be able to find your particular flavor unless you call ahead and order by the dozen. Today I got lucky with Pistachio being available and added Oreo and Vanilla for my "to go" order…shhhhh. What can I say, just tasty! While the flavor profile may not be for everyone, Baked is making some grown and sexy cakes and cupcakes, along with mean sweets in general. Hope you like and Happy Eating!
