  1. I was at the Smorgasburg opening with my older kids, 10 and 7, when they wanted to top off with dessert.  Unfortunately, the stands were breaking down for the day, so I looked up nearby bakeries.  That's how we ended up at Bakeri – not very far at all from Smorgasburg, and conveniently on the way back to the subway station.  I remember seeing it in passing, but didn't take note partly because my daughter was more intrigued by the book store/novelty shop across the street.

Bakeri is a super-tight space, so it is more likely somewhere to stop by and pick up items, which is what we did.  I wanted the hazelnut chocolate cookie, but they were out; instead we got a double chocolate chocolate chip cookie, an oatmeal cranberry cookie, and a fudge brownie.  I would most definitely get each of them again, and stop by and try other items!

Let me just say – all three are very large.  The fudge brownie was moist and chewy, and would stick to your fingers.  Even on Tuesday – four days later – when I finally finished picking at it, it remained moist and just as enjoyable as when I first bought it.

I'll be back in the area again this weekend, and I am almost positive I will stop by Bakeri again.

  2. Stopped here before my flight home and it was amazing! I got 2 skolebrøds that I intended to share but ended up eating both! So good that it makes airplane coffee taste ok! I also got a mini version of the apple cider flower cakes and that proved to be my biggest mistake! Really..get the big one and get at least 2! It was lightly sweetened and has an amazing texture. I would have ordered one of everything if I had enough cash.

it's super cute country farm vibe with limited seating. I wish I had some time to sit down and drink some coffee and enjoy a pastry at my leisure, but alas I had a flight to catch so I bought everything to go.

  3. Busy busy place. Cute cafe with variety of bakery items. We ordered the orange brioche and chives+black pepper biscuit and two cups of coffee. Early enough that we only had to wait 10 mins but yes the line was already out the door at 10:45. Not good for groups.

  4. I've been to both Williamsburg and Greenpoint locations and despite the adorable decor and yummy food the service is always bad. Inconsistent, disorganized, hurried and often abrasive. I wonder if they have an employee requirement of being moody all the time but it's pretty regular.

Their baked treats are delicious and unique. The chocolate chip cardamom is a staple and absolutely worth trying. I've also noticed their cupcakes to be super moist but often overly sugary.

Also am a fan of the Counter Culture coffee but why don't they serve half and half? Is Counter Culture okay with this?

Williamsburg spot is teeny tiny and you're lucky to find a seat, whereas GP is more spread out.

I hope your overall experience is better than mine has been!

  5. Simply delightful! This place is a tiny oasis off of the busy Brooklyn streets.

You might not get one of the couple seats, but definitely stop by and grab some pastries to go.

One of the best muffins I've ever had in my life!

As a non-NYC-dweller, this is on my list of places to hit up again should I be in the neighbourhood.

  6. You won't get any complaints from me when it comes to the delicious pastries that Bakeri has to offer.  From the simple tea cookies, biscotti, and savory sandwiches, to the decadent cookies like the peanut butter cookie, or the Rosemary hazelnut chocolate chip and sea salt cookie, Bakeri has everything you need to keep your sweet tooth satisfied, and the caffeinated drinks to wash it all down with.  There's not much seating, so weather permitting, you might want to take your goods to go.  If you're grabbing one of the few seats, you'll find the service both quick and friendly.

  7. I went here on a Sunday because I was suffering from a hangover and I needed caffeine to start my day. I ordered a large latte and a raspberry crumble. The latte was delicious and the raspberry crumble was very decadent. It definitely made my hangover a lot better!

The staff was okay, some of the girls were nice but it took me a long time to get a waitress' attention. Nevertheless, very lovely place.

  8. Wow.  I'm super impressed.  Upon entering, I was concerned that all of the baked goods looked a little bit too esoteric for my plebeian palate.  Nonetheless, I still couldn't help myself.  I selected a zucchini flower, a cinnamon roll, and banana chocolate bread pudding.  They were all excellent.  The zucchini flower in particular was very different, moist, and flavorful.  The hint of blueberry definitely enhanced the flavor.  The cinnamon roll was also quite moist and well iced.  The bread pudding was a good rendition of bread pudding, which is always great.

I took all 3 home and heated them up.  This made everything taste even better.  I'd definitely return to try other stuff!
