After a night out at Fat Buddha (walking distance to this place) I desperately searched Yelp for a pizza spot. Typically my group of friends and I will just walk into the first food place we see, but no amount of alcohol can disguise a slice of pizza if it tastes like cardboard. So when I read the reviews for this place and saw that it was close by, we practically ran here.
The gentlemen behind the counter are super nice and the pizza is made hot and ready (not the nasty Little Caesar's way). The ingredients taste so authentic and they serve great quality pizza!
Specialty slice: $4 Cheese: $2.75
which I think is reasonable for good pizza.
I would highly recommend Baker's if you are in the area. It's also located next to Mikey Likes It Ice Cream, so perfect spot at anytime.
Excellent pizza joint in the west village. They've only been open for 4 months. The meatball parm slice did not disappoint.
It's place you wish you had your neighborhood. It's a simple and good pizza place. It's not fancy but it will make you smile every time you take a bite. Service is great and kind of a rarity in the city. You are greeted with a smile. The pizza varieties are creative and all the flavors blend nicely. The crust has that nice crunch but it's still tender. It's just thick enough to hold the toppings but not to thick you feel like have a gut bomb afterwards. The Brussel sprouts pizza is just bit bitter but the saltiness from the meat makes it a nice little party in your mouth. I almost forgot about the meatballs. They are delicious and so good even without any sauce. Grandma would be proud!
Note: I never had a slice from a fresh pie or ordered an entire pie and I feel like that might be a game changer at Baker's. That being said, a solid pizza joint should hold up either way and for my three experiences here the 'za was just OK. The best slice was by far the Baker, topped with ricotta, sausage and onions. Make sure to grab one of these if you stop by along with the pesto knots, which are a nice twist on the typically super oily garlic variety. The margherita slice was average and the B&B (brussels sprouts, bacon, truffle oil) was sour, hard and one of the few slices I've ever not finished. As I noted before, I think getting a fresh pie makes all the difference, bc all the slices did have a crunchy, thin crust, but seemed a bit… stale. Though there are a bunch of legendary pizza spots nearby (notably: joe's and artichoke), B's will get another shot when I have a fellow food dumpster with me to crush a whole pie.
We ordered in seamless a large pie with sausage and pepperonis. I think the total cost of this was $22 which seems to be the norm in NYC. This is some of the better pizza you can get delivered. The pizza was covered with meats and it was really crispy. My only flaw was that the crusts were almost black on the bottom and tasted like it as well. Other than that, this is a great place to order in from and I hope I get to visit Baker's Pizza too.
I had a hankering for quick pizza, and feel very lucky to have stumbled upon this place on the way to a show at Tisch.
The specialty looked really good (peppers, speck, and broccoli rabe?), but opted for the margherita , as I was in a plainer mood.
Perfect crisp crust and the toppings were not at all sparse. I grabbed a table accented with a fresh sunflower and people watched, and admired the beautiful white piano…
Probably the cutest open slice pizza joint I'll ever see.
