  1. Came here because it was next to one of my favorite bagel shops. We came here for dinner with a group of 3 at around 6:30 pm and nobody was around. Entire restaurant was empty and when we walked in, nobody was around to greet us for about 2 min. We were immediately seated and they gave us water and the menus.

I forgot the name of the dishes, sorry.

We weren't sure what to order but we ordered their basil mussels and fried crab "cakes" for appetizers.

For main course we ordered the fried fish with garlic sauce, massaman curry with duck, some kind of squid with thick flat white noodles.

Overall, everything was just okay, a little pricey and portion size were on the smaller side.

The basil mussel had nearly 0 basil leaves. Didn't taste any at all. Only good thing was that there wasn't any sand in the mussels.

The fried crab "cakes" were okay. Deeply fried and dry.

The massaman curry with duck was decent, they gave quite a bit of pieces of duck. Curry sauce, not enough. Could taste a little bit of the peanuts but not any bold flavors I expect from
    a thai restaurant.

The fried fish with garlic sauce was okay. The sauce was my favorite out of all the three dishes. The fish used was very thin and after it was fried, there wasn't much meat left to taste. Out of proportion of batter to fish. Definitely using lower quality fish to charge more.

The stir fried squid with long flat white noodles and broccoli was just okay. Reminded me more of a traditional chinese dish than a thai dish. Not super flavorful.

All in all, I would not come back here again, underwhelming. A lot of misses and very lack luster in terms of flavor profile. There are many more thai places to eat in Astoria.

  2. I popped in for a late lunch one fine spring afternoon when they weren't very busy.  Their customer service was friendly and very helpful.  The sweet gal her served me was so sweet and always ready with the water pitcher and quick to refill (I drink a lot of H2O).

I ordered the steamed dumplings and a small crock of shrimp tom yum.  While it wasn't the absolute best tom yum I've ever had, it was still quite good.  The dumplings could use a bit more flavor, but I enjoyed them nonetheless.  Everything tasted fresh, was presented well, and was served in a timely manner.

All in all, I'd go back again.  It seems like a great local place to get your Thai food fix when you've got a craving that you just can't kick.  Next time I'll have to ask about their gluten free options, since hubs has an intolerance.

  3. Not knowing what to get for dinner Bangkok Tasty appeared in front of us. We were seated by the front window, which was nice.  I opted for the  Pad Kee Mao, which is stir fried flat rice noodles with garlic, egg, chili basil sauce. You also have your typical options of protein. I went with the chicken.  When asked how spicy? I originally said spicy, but the waitress warned me that the medium is still very spicy.  She let me know that if the medium was not spicy enough for me she would have them add additional spice.  I never know with Thai places.  Sometimes spicy is ridiculous spicy and sometimes it is just spicy.  So, I liked the option and went with medium….She was right. Medium was just the right amount of spice for me. When she came back and offered to apply more spice. I told her I was good.  Overall a good meal and fairly inexpensive.  If I'm in the area I would come back.

  4. The name of this place cracks me up because apparently I am a 12 year old boy. Moving on…

I ate here on a Friday night and was curious as to why it was so empty. It was a little late and definitely after the dinner rush, but there were literally no other people. Thank God I was with a friend who loves their food and assured me that it was good, because otherwise I would have taken it as a red flag and gone elsewhere.

The waitress was very friendly and prompt. The food was delicious, but the default setting is extremely spicy, so be aware to specify that you want mild if you're not into that. The restaurant itself was clean and well kept. I'll definitely go back.

  5. People throw around this word "authentic" as if proclaimed experts of an entire cuisine are being represented in a meal outside of that country. I've traveled in Thailand and this certainly did not meet my definition of "authentic." The food is pretty average, but their fried spring rolls tasted like they were just recovering from a deep freeze. The crispy duck salad was pretty good including ample crunchy pieces of duck, but their chicken sate tasted like it had been under a heat lamp all day.

  6. Ordered take out and the food came forty minutes late! Ehh, luckily for good company. We started with the fried bean curd, the fried calamari and the papaya salad. Both were over fried and the calamari only came with a few pieces! What is up with that?! The papaya salad was good but how can one really mess that up? I had the Thai Chili Basil Eggplant for dinner and it was good. Feel like this place used to be better. Then again, it was my first takeout experience from there….

  7. I've only had take-out so far.

Spicy Tom Yum Pork Soup: B-
Too spicy to really taste the ingredients.  Didn't care for the mushrooms; they tasted canned.

    Chicken Tom Kha: C+
Too spicy to really taste the ingredients.  Didn't care for the mushrooms; they tasted canned.  Not enough kafir lime leaves, lemon grass and galangal.  Wasn't really Tom Kha.  Didn't have Thai flavors.

    Thai Grilled Pork: B-
    Bland.  Could've been softer.

  8. Typical so-so Thai food in NYC. I had the Thai Chili Basil eggplant with tofu which was too sweet and too saucy which is how I find most Thai places. The plus was that the portions were very generous – lots of eggplant and tofu. It was nice of the waitress to ask how spicy or mild I wanted the dish. I'm not sure why so many people need/want their food to be super spicy. Not all Thai dishes are spicy and spicy does not mean it's the best Thai food. I prefer my Thai to have strong flavors like basil and lemongrass etc but this dish was seriously lacking in the basil. Convenient place since I think it's the only Thai in this specific area of Astoria but not the best nor authentic.
