“We also loved the outdoor seating (complete with umbrellas so the sun doesnt roast your face off)!”

“This is a great neighborhood spot when you just don't feel like cooking in a sort of fancy diner kind of way.”

“Great pizza, great paninis, etc, etc. The only thing I would suggest is some tasty bread pre-dinner/appetizer.”

  1. Sunday evening dinner consisted of a few salads, sides of meatballs and weird bread. My date had the Bar Toto salad, which surprisingly came with two whole chicken cutlets, which really looked good. I settled on a Kale/Fennel salad, which was delightful, if not a little too fennell-y. Side of meatballs was depressingly dry and sad. The sauce was mediocre (guys, even *I* can make a better sauce and I'm a Russian Jew).

Also, I was expecting some delicious bread to come out and we just got a basket of grilled panini bread soaked in garlic oil. I mean… don't get me wrong, anything soaked in oil is delicious, but it was soooo soaked, but I still ate 4 pieces lol

Overall, I will say meh. I want to return for a lunch panini and beer and see if that's the way to go. Promise to revisit this review. Service was slow but totally fine, the waitress was sweet. I wouldn't run to this place.

  2. Maybe a little on the expensive side for pizza/pasta, but it's a good date night spot (provided you're not around the families with kids or a patio seat near an area that smells like dog urine.)

  3. SO my friend swears by the cheeseburger panini.  Last week the boy and I went in, as it's not too far from our apartment.  It was a good meal; we sat outside, but the interior was really nice.  The owner(?) bar manager (?) seemed like his shit together, but our waitress didn't.  We waited a lonnng time for all service, and after a long day of working, we just wanted to eat and head out.  We noticed other tables got their drinks and food at the same time.  We did get a lot of food, but it just seemed a bit $$ for what it was by just a bit at the end of the day.  Not the worst ever, and it was good, but I feel like it was $20 too much at the end of the day for just so-so service.

  4. Really good place for brunch. My cousin got the panini and I the burger and fries. Geez, it was both tasty and large – we both couldn't finish our meals. I think it's quite affordable for the region, and the taste is great.

  5. Like many expressed, wanted to like this place due to it being on 6th, it being open late, outdoor seating and the very en vogue vintage interior but sadly the food did not inspire.

Got the prosciutto n' pea penne pasta–pow p's! It actually was alright, the prosciutto was pretty good and the cream sauce was okay. Penne was clearly not homemade but overall it was satisfying.

The vegetarian pizza however was not good at all. It tasted flavorless. It was 'under-baked' and limp. The dough needed salt and the whole pizza just seemed lifeless. It didn't help it was served cold too–c'mon have to time dishes going out together.

One decent dish and one flop wouldn't be that bad in some contexts but there's no shortage of Italian food or restaurants in the Slope. So alas, if absolutely need be might back to try something safe like a panini but more than likely it will fall into that category, "oh, yeah, meh, I ate there once…"

  6. So glad that I finally came after passing by on many occasions!

Sat outside for brunch. They are super dog friendly and have doggie bowls for water. The only catch is the dog has to be tied up and outside the gate due to permits, etc.

The service is good. The waitress was polite and checked in on us. Just for some reason she took a while to actually come take our order, but not a big deal at all.

On to the food! Loved the brunch and cubano italiano panini! The toasty ciabatta, creamy tomato mayo, egg in the brunch panini, and the short rib in the cubano.. YUMMMMM! Love it! And the fries were crispy and delish! I would definitely return for brunch whenever I'm craving a nice, toasty panini!

  7. Overrated. Nothing spectacular.
Simple Italian food, cooked just fair.  I've been here on several occasions ordering a pizza, panini and burger.  All times the food was just fair.

Ambiance is nice with bar, small tables and dim lighting/candles.

  8. Came here with some lady friends for a girls night and  had a nice time. The staff is very friendly and one of the bartenders, Shawn/Sean, recommended a blueberry mojito when I wanted something fruity – it was yummy 🙂

The fries were good, as were the paninis, polenta and pasta. The gelato was delicious and the chocolate dessert was good too.

We never felt rushed and the staff was attentive. Pricing was a little more on the high side, but we stayed for hours and enjoyed our time 🙂
