I really enjoyed Barbaresco. It's a tiny little Italian restaurant with incredibly nice (and fully authentic Italian) servers. The food is delicious; I especially enjoyed the Spaghetti with Clams and though the portions are hearty, I could have eaten two bowls. The wine is good, the scene is relatively quiet, but there is just something about the layout and decor of the restaurant that makes it less impressive than the food deserves. I would absolutely return for another meal…maybe on a third or fourth date.
A family favorite spot for about 15 years now! I can't believe it's been that long, but it has. We have all been here dozens of times. My parents particularly like the early bird seating on Sundays, when the place is quietish, save for the older crowd and people with kids.
The service is really good. They put up with my dad wanting to be BFF with everyone, which is kind of them, and they remember his favorite wine and order. This literally makes his day.
The food is pretty darn good. Yummmy butter heavy italian dishes. Their fish selections are quite good as well, re quality and cut.
Pretty easy to get to from whereever you're coming from, since it's just off the 6 train and a few buses, and over the past 15 years I have come from the upper west side, upper east, Nolita, Brooklyn and east midtown.
