Barcade

“Excellent selection of craft beer, suspiciously delicious food, nostalgia-tastic games, great tunes, and mostly a neat crowd.”

“The bartenders are great with helping you pick from all the beers they have and I love that the games are all a quarter!”

“Always a new great beer to try and the bartenders have quickly become my beer connoiseurs 😉

Also, Mappy, Ms Pacman, and Tapper are where its at!”

  1. What an awesome spot for date night or a group of friends! My man and I fell in love with the romantic and fun-filled strip of grove street, and this gave us one more reason to fall deeply obsessed with it. We had a candlelit dinner while watching the beautiful sun go down- all in prep before our competitive nature kicked in and we were gonna be at each others' throats! Jk. Maybe a little? Anyway, what a beautiful way to end our date night! We were here for a couple hours and didn't even notice!

The bouncer was nice – just have your ID ready. We walked into a pretty packed arcade and bar, but spots free up at the bar quite often, so don't worry! There's a lot of IPAs and local brews. I don't drink beer so I went for my usual vodka.

Various areas to get tokens – the one next to the bathrooms is always free, so bring some cash and ask one of the staff to get you a plastic cup to hold all them coins!

There's a lot of games, including Tetris and pacman. I do wish there were more driving games available. There's only ONE racing game (for 2 players) and someone's always waiting, so you can't just stick it out and do that all night.

  2. Recently, I hosted a private event at Barcade, and couldnt be more pleased with how it turned out. The bar tenders and management (Mr. Drew) did a great job at handling such a large group and truly were great to deal with. I had a group of about 20 people, but we had our own area reserved for us. Also, we were capable of playing almost every game here, which by the way I am happy to see the 4 player Pac man game is now at this location! What a great game! On a friday evening Barcade was not overly crowded–which was a score! Usually you cant move here! However, the happy hour specials are until 7 PM and i think the drink special for $8 where you can get a shot and certain beer is such a steal and will hit the spot! Overall, this location is my fave, staff is friendly, place is clean, plenty of games to play, and plenty of options of vegetarians to eat something!

  3. Drinks are a bit bland. I just come here for the arcade games and to hangout with a friend. Great for pairs and solo gamers alike. Their selection is mostly early 90's games and older. NBA Jams era arcade games, for example. Overall, come for the games, stay for the games, then leave so others can play (har har).

  4. Barcade has a special place in my heart because it was there that I beat my boyfriend (not once, but TWICE) at the Daytona 500 racing game. 😎

Alongside an impressive selection of many old school arcade games is an equally impressive selection of craft beers, which was a very pleasant surprise. The bartenders were quick and friendly enough.

We arrived before it was crazy and once it started to get packed we left. If you want to play the games, go when it's not busy because lines started forming for the more popular games.

  5. This place is great to come with a group of friends for some drinks and games! They are all old school arcade games like nascar racing, which I think is the best.
The drinks are good and they seem to have a wide variety of beers.

They also have PacMan and Ms.pacman….
It can get very crowded and loud late at night I find but in the evening before 9 it was not crowded at all last time I went!
Would make a good date night spot if both are into games…

This location is not as spacious as the one in Williamsburg but still has a pretty big selection of games and tables to hang out at.

  6. This place is literally ok. It has a bit of an old grungy feel. It's literally an old arcade with a bar. The food was just something to munch on-not much to say about it. I think this place may have an appeal to someone maybe more into the scene but just not for me.

  7. This place is ridiculously fun and cool. I spent much of the day there yesterday with a small group and had a great time.

-Tons of great beers to choose from
-A simple menu with munchies, sandwiches and other stuff…all good quality
-We had nachos (2 orders) and the meat/cheese platter – great
-Nostalgic video games all over the place
    -Plenty of seating room
    -Cool bar area
    -Plenty of bathrooms
    -Awesome location on Newark Ave

During the day it was pretty quiet, so we had our pick of games and places to sit. As 5pm approached, it got busier and louder…but what do you expect? It's a bar and an arcade.

    Over 21 only.

    I'll be back.

  8. Location, location, location! This place is in an awesome location!!! I am completely obsessed with the ambiance of the grove street section of Jersey City.
My boyfriend and I went to dinner down there on a beautiful summer night and then walked around outside. We stopped into Barcade for a drink and some fun!
They had awesome games like froggy and Tetris! There are plenty of two player games such as racing cars and boxing. Great place for a date or to hang with friends!!
They have a lot of IPA and locally brewed beers. I enjoyed a crisp Docs Cider.
