I'm a fan of the Brooklyn location, so when I got the opportunity to try this spot I went for it. Great date spot, in my opinion. This one serves food, and the beer is always on point. Also, who doesn't love arcade games? Like seriously?!
*Just keep in mind that any money you convert to arcade is non-refundable so spend wisely!
This is a great place to meet with friends, ha g out, enjoy a few drinks, and play classic video games.
Few titles I remember are Mr. Do, Pitfall,Frogger, Wizard of Wor, Q-Bert, and Galaga. I am sure there is a full list on the website.
Beer menu is extensive. Mixed drinks are around $7.00. That may even be cheap for NYC bars, for all I know.
The ambience is very friendly and somewhat nerdy.
That is to say, my kind of place.
Great concept and fun place that could use some fine tuning. Can't go wrong with a place that serves food and beer with a side of old arcade games. I didn't try any food but they do have a pretty decent yet expensive beer list. The arcade games take tokens not quarters which is lame so be sure to get change for that $20 unless you want an all night gaming marathon. The music is LOUD in here, not really sure why but they could cut it down a bit.
Fun place worth checking out if you're in the area but lower the music a little please.
After falling almost completely out of love with the Williamsburg location for it's inherent awful vibes on weekends, when this location opened up, it was truly a gift from the retro arcade game gods. All the Barcade awesomeness but with food! Since then, they've upped their game (ha, get it?) in some respects (adding new arcades, expanding their draft selection) and have decreased from the experience in others (tokens instead of real quarters in the machines….extremely lame) but it's consistently a good time. Food is honestly just alright; veggie burger was decent but fell apart and tater tots were good, but being shaped like Tetris definitely adds on to their value, if only for the aesthetics. Happy hour crowding especially on Thursdays is sort of unbearable and you may want to get there early before the suits come through to untuck their shirts from their slacks after a light beer. I still think very fondly of this bar/arcade and would never turn down an opportunity to go.
I love arcade! I love bar! I love barcade!!!!!
This place is bigger than their St mark place location but I think the game selection is better at St mark place. But both locations have great selection of beer ($7 or 8) and snacks! We ordered an order of tater tots ($5) and they came out quick and in Tetris shape!!! That's it, you won my heart!! To be fair, the tots were delicious because it wasn't soggy and I can play with my food too!!
They have the usual, Ms pacman, TMNT, donkey Kong, galaga and Tetris. No Street fighter or shooting games. There were some Daytona machines, but ppl were hogging it. Good times but if you want to play good games, go to St mark place, for hangout, here!
I love coming here and hanging out. I've always lucked out ad managed to get a table, but I imagine it can be pretty difficult during certain times. I've never had the food here, but it looks and smells great, but a bit pricey in my opinion.
Drink selection is decent, and prices are okay, but I always love getting the ginger beer they keep on tap! It's so good!
Their selection of games are good, but they are missing a few staples. All machines take token, not quarters, so you just use the token machines located in the corners.
I did have a few games that ate some tokens, but it didn't happen too often.
Where to even begin… this place is great. It has a ton of old game you can play (my favorite being the Star Wars one). It's a rather large location too so it's not like most bars I've been to in Manhattan where it's completely crowded. They also have a decent menu and options for vegetarians. The tater tots are shaped like Tetris pieces–TETRIS. That's pretty cool in my book. This place is definitely a cool bar to check out with friends or even if you want to take a date for a fun step outside of the ol' standard coffee date.
The most fun you can have killing an hour with $3 in change. Other than Toothless Molly in the darkest corners of Central Park. But that's another review.
Barcade is an exercise in streamlined differentiation. As the name would suggest, they serve alcohol in an hypercolored, 8bit sandstorm of cabinet throwback gaming. Sure, you could play these gems on your phone for free, but where's the tactile nostalgia in that? Spoiler: there is none. Plus, pounding reasonable priced pints while tinkering on your phone is something you do all the other nights of the week. Change yer pace, kehd.
If your schedule permits, Tuesdays after midnight see no waits, with only the hardest core gamers mingling about in what amounts to their modern day mall: a free-to-enter loiter spot that requires a measly quarter dropped every 20 minutes or so to not seem like they're bumming about. I, on the other hand, spent $2.75 in rapid succession to not only sample the Golden Axe sequel, Revenge of the Death Adder, but TO CONQUER THE VILLAIN HIMSELF!
In an age where D&B patrons spend $1.37 for five minutes of play time in a seizure-inducing shooter, Barcade brings 25¢ side-scrollers that aren't rigged to bleed you dry.
And for that, Barcade, I salute you. Shaaaaaaa-wing.
