Bareburger boasts use of local artisans and sustainable farmers and I can't get enough. They seriously have 14 different burger patties! The burgers are made from organic, all natural, free-range, grass-fed meats, all natural cheeses and organic vegetables. If you want wild boar, they got it! You want to try Ostrich, look no further! These burgers won't just come on your average burger bun. Instead, you'll have the option of brioche, Multigrain, lettuce, whole wheat, or rice wrap. The beer selection is respectable and pitchers are your best bet. If you're craving a side of some greasy grub, I suggest the sweet potato fries, but be sure to share it with 1-2 other people because you definitely will not be able to eat all of it at once. The dipping sauces are amazing. Curry BBQ, Chipotle Mayo, and curry ketchup just might be my favorite, so good. If you have a chance, feel free to stop by and check it out!
I didn't know Bareburger served breakfast! Their paper menu looked like a kid's menu to me – colorful and a delight to read especially before I have my coffee!
We ordered the Hungry Bear ($14) and the Hungry Cub ($10) sets – eggs, toast, bacon or sausage, and quinoa hash or potato wedges or fries. They also both came with a huge mug of coffee or tea AND a cup of orange or apple juice. The orange juice is not freshly squeezed and had lots of pulp but the coffee was amazing and dark roasted (my favorite!). I loved my sunny side up eggs, quinoa hash, and our super sweet waitress.
So I finally decided to try this burger chain, since this new location opened just around the corner. Given that the weather was perfect, decided to order carry out and dined alfresco. Had dinner on a bench in Gantry Plaza, and really enjoyed the views, but that's about it. The food just wasn't all that impressive.
Ordered the guapo chop salad to start. For a large portion order for 14.95, this salad was tiny and there seemed to be more pickled jalapenos than lettuce. Also had the hot honey chicken sammy, which was fine, but nothing close to Chick-Fil-A standards. And of course had to try a burger, so went with the buckaroo. I think I've been spoiled by being lucky enough to have had so many amazing burgers through the years because the buckaroo just fell a little flat for me. The patty was cooked perfectly, but the meat itself was under-seasoned even though the burger was drowning in excessive barbecue sauce.
Bareburger's mission is admirable and worthy especially in the non-GMO, organic, hormone-free, gluten-fee, grass-fed, free-range landscape that is New York City, but ultimately the taste and quality just don't excel. Given that I've only been here once, I don't want to write-off Bareburger completely. I will be back and I hope I'm proven wrong. But as first impressions go, this wasn't the best.
Ahhh Bareburger … one of my favorite places to get a burger and THE BEST ONION RINGS I HAVE EVER HAD…ever! In my previous review I said the onion rings were slightly burnt and not as good as I've had before at other Bareburger locations, so Mark reached out to me and sent me a $25 gift card 😀 He really did not have to do that, but that comes to show that this location has the best customer service and wants to be the best of the best! Random acts of kindness always make your day better 🙂 Will definitely be back here (this location specifically..!) soon to stuff my face with onion rings upon onion rings until I have a food baby.
Omg…wow. We tried Bareburger for the first time yesterday and it was too good! It's so hard to be health-conscious when eating at restaurants these days, but Bareburger is one of those perfect, not-too-granola solutions.
I got the Standard burger, but wrapped in collard greens instead of a bun — so, zero carbs, and it was delicious! Hubby got some crazy concoction with elk meat (elk!?) on a regular bun, which was also pretty good. I just loved how flexible the menu was — you could pick one of their pre-set burger options or create your own (did I mention brisket is offered as a topping? …yep) and choose your own sides, which included an awesome baby kale salad (my choice) and sweet potato fries (his choice). They also list the calories on the menu, in case that's important (or in some cases, terrifying).
Bareburger is a perfect option whether you want to be super-healthy or indulge a little, and it's all done in a casual setting that's cute enough for a weeknight dinner date. I'll definitely be back to try one of their delicious-looking salads.
Oh, and outdoor seating FTW!
The burgers were very tasty but for the price (and frankly number of calories) I would have liked them to be a bit larger. If you are hungry a single $13 burger will certainly not be enough. The decor is also a bit weird- kind of like they went to a yard sale at a barn and just bought everything.
I hope they are not losing their touch because this experience was not as great as the 1st. I ordered the solcal burger with fries. The server substituted my cheese at no extra cost. My turkey needed another two minutes on the grill and it desperately needed more sauce. My fries ranged from crispy to soggy. My boyfriend had a beef burger – he ordered it medium well and it was received medium.. oh and under seasoned. He barely ate it. I hope that their expansion hasn't affected their quality and this was just a off day for the cook.
Sweet staff and amazing food! Bareburger is consistently one of my favorite places in the city, and I love that they support other Queens businesses as well i.e. featuring beers from Transmitter Brewing, etc. The only thing is that the other Bareburgers have AMAZING cocktails, and this location doesn't have a liquor license because they are literally across the street from a church. Given that, I'm more likely to go to the other locations, but this is still a great place for a burger and beers (and fries and onion rings)!
