  1. Great restaurant by the water there is indoor and outdoor seating. For outdoors they have blankets available in case you get cold. They do not take reservations but if you call 30 minutes before you come in that will cut down on your wait time which I think is neat!

For a Thursday night it was definitely busy but I got there after 8 pm so It was a bit calmer as time went by. I got a table right away which is awesome!

The waiter was friendly he was very attentive and always checking in. The ordering system is different because you have to write down what your order is and the waiter will clarify the order and take it. The idea is great especially for big groups so there is no confusion or missed orders.

For an appetizer I ordered the guacamole which is a must! Their guacamole is delicious creamy, a bit chunky and sometimes spicy! (I'm super sensitive to spice so it's probably just me). Love! Then I ordered their fried oyster taco which is to die for! They put some form of tarter sauce I believe with cilantro and the fried oyster on a soft shell and it's cooked to perfection! I went there just to have the oyster taco! My friend ordered the grilled corn and it came with cheese on top and she said it's a bit spicy as well but she loves it!

The drinks are amazing as well. I always get wine but my friends LOVE the coconut mojitos!

We sat there for a while chatting ordering another round of drinks and they did not make us feel rushed which is great and they brought the check when they saw we were done. Very polite staff!

It's also find the price range to be good and fair! I recommend this restaurant it's great for large groups!

  2. Bartaco slamdunks the restaurant experience.  From the Gingham shirts the employees wear, to food presentation, menu selections and decor they do a great job of portraying their culture which is fun, casual, hip with some class.  I've eaten here a handful of times and never had a bad experience.  Food is consistent and tasty.  My go to is the sesame short rib bowl and their margaritas.  Save room for the churro dessert!  The crunchy cinnamon sugar outside and doughy center are like no other.

If you're looking to enjoy the nice weather they have an outside patio that is always happening on a sunny day.

  3. I am in between a 4 and a 5 star rating for this place, but I figured I would round up 🙂  First I will start off with the most important… their Guac is AMAZING.  The ambiance is fabulous with water view seating!  My girlfriends met up here while I was in town and each had 3 tacos and shared a bunch of sides! The tacos were a bit mixed but all around good; The lobster special taco was pretty small for the price and I don't particularly think worth getting.  I LOVED the falafel taco and would highly recommend it!  The corn is delish as were the spicy cucumbers.  All around a great experience with a hello for the wonderful daytime manager! Try it out ASAP!

  4. First of all, this place is ridiculously crowded! They don't take reservations and you can only call 30 minutes before arriving to be on the waiting list. We went there on a Saturday night with about 9 people and we ended up waiting an hour and a half. It was so crowded that you couldn't even get into the door or sit at the bar. At least they had seating outside to wait. The inside is very trendy: dark, loud, with cute benches with pillows.
Needless to say after waiting so long, we were ravenous and we ended up ordering almost everything on the menu. First of all the tacos are small (like 3 bites) and it is about $2.50-3.50 per taco. Each person should get about 5-6 tacos to fill up, probably more if no sides were ordered.
What I did not like about the place was their service and the way they made us order the tacos. We are supposed to write the orders on a form and you just check off how many of each item you want. They also have a spot for you to write your name. I am fine with doing that, I thought the tacos we selected were going to come out in our own individual trays. However, when the tacos came out, they were all jumbled together and you don't know what is what because they are all mixed up.They should have the tacos labeled or something, because we ended up eating each other's tacos that we didn't order. There were also some tacos missing, but they were very good about just getting it for us. As for the service, there were so many wait staff there and they must have specific jobs. All I know is that our waitress did nothing but put in our taco orders. She did not check in on us, bring us the food or drinks and she didn't even come when we had the service card up. She was talking to the other waitresses almost the whole time, in front of our table.
    Now for the food:
corn- each other had 1 corn that was broken into 2 pieces. It was grilled and smothered with a creamy, parmesan cheese. It was a little too creamy and cheesy for me. I am also not a big fan of cheese.
plantains- they really should specify on the menu that they were sweet plantains because I ordered it thinking they were the savory ones. It was standard, but they gave this sour cream dip on the side that did not go with the plantains.
rice bowl with ribeye steak- This was a pretty big bowl of veggies and a lot of steak. Too bad the steak was really dry and flavorless.
ribeye taco- the steak was very dry and the only taste that was there was a sour vinegar taste. It was very disappointing.
duck taco- the duck was so moist, with this flavorful gravy. This was one of the best ones.
baja fish taco- another good one. The fish had a good crunch on the outside and very tender on the inside.
fried oyster taco- another good one. The breading on it was very light yet crisp and everything was just blending together.
adobo taco- the pork pieces were a little tough and it was also dry.
pork belly- another good one. The pork belly just melted in my mouth.
Spicy chorizo- The sausage bits were very dry with not that much flavor- one of my least favorites.
coconut gelato- divine. It was creamy, not too sweet with little flakes of coconut.

No place is worth the long wait, especially when there are so many good places to eat. I would also recommend you NOT go there with a big group because the service is not geared for big groups.

  5. Love this place mostly for location and the kool buzz, but the wait could be a hindrance and the food is ok, not the best tacos. Favs are seviche and the coconut ice cream 🙂

  6. This place is themed nautical style and is situated right by the water which is great because they offer outdoor seating. The service is impeccable the waitstaff serves  very quickly, always asking if you need anything and refills your drink without asking. They have a system where you order on cards and they pick up the order. We got an a side of fried plantaines. We got a large tray which had 9 tacos total with 2 of each of the chicken, fried Mahi Mahi, chorizo, and steak. It also comes with 2 large tamales, 1 large order of tortillas with guacamole, 1 side order of corn with black bean salad, and 1 side of Cole slaw. We shared the food between the four of us and it was enough to share. All of the food as very flavorful and I'd want to try more of their food.

  7. Who doesn't LOVE bartaco? The location is great, the prices are reasonable, and the vibe is always fun. Plus, the unique tacos are always DELICIOUS. I love their ordering system (you fill out a menu card and put it in a holder for your server – minimizes mistakes). Be prepared to wait though, especially on nice evenings.
You can call thirty minutes before to reduce wait time, but you can honestly wait up to two hours for an outside table sometimes. Their texting system is nice though – once you check in with the host, you can click a link to see how many tables are ahead of you (which is helpful when you want to make a quick Costco trip to kill time )!
Having been here well over a dozen times, I have had some issues with very inconsistent service, as well as inconsistency with how spicy certain items are. For example, sometimes the guacamole is perfect, other times it's been so spicy it was almost inedible for someone like me who doesn't tolerate spices well. I've also had certain tacos that are sometimes spicy, sometimes not. I've had items that were not supposed to be spicy come out very hot.
That being said, I still frequently bring out of town guests here and very often will travel to this location even though the Stamford location is closer. The tacos are always so good. My favorites are the portobello, the fried oyster, and the pork belly. The chicken and spicy chorizo are a little too spicy for me. I also love the sesame ribeye and the baja fish taco. I love the duck as well but usually ask them to make it mild as it's pretty spicy. I usually skip rice bowls – they're so filling and the tacos are more fun. Guac is always pretty good, and I usually order the corn, which is covered in some kind of delicious crumbly cheese that pairs perfectly with the sweet corn and a dusting of spices. I love the spicy cucumber side – crisp and refreshing with just a mild spicy kick. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the churros or a sampling of ice cream cones. A fun, laid back place for a group – great for socializing and sharing food.

  8. Be prepared for a very long wait and tough parking. The place is clearly popular and rightfully so. Great location,  patio,  a nice vibe and atmosphere. The Margarita and sangria is pretty good. We had the taco platter and rice bowls. All were pretty good,  but not excellent. I am after all from a tex mex state so I'm a tough critic when it comes to my tacos. Fun place to visit overall.
