Every Wednesday morning a fabulous greenmarket sets up shop at the entrance to Prospect Park, right across from Bartel Pritchard Square (really more of a circle). This is a small deal – run mainly by two different farmers and is fruit and veggie-centric with, of course, lots of cider doughnuts. Today I picked up corn, white peaches, brandywine heirloom tomatoes (red and yellow) and a little basket of gorgeous orange sungold tomatoes. If you haven't had these little orbs of goodness, you must try them. They're delicious when bathed in olive oil then gently grilled and sprinkled with sea salt.
Meredith's Bread, a family-run organic, natural bakery from Kingston, NY also has a stand here. So, plan for a picnic – pick up a couple of tomatoes, some peaches or pears and some baked goods and hang out in Prospect Park for a few hours. Enjoy!
