  1. My friend took us here and I was not disappointed.

We ordered a variety of food but what stood out to me was the shrimp with garlic and the Brazilian chicken. But why 5 stars? The best caipirinha I have had in the city. A lot of places make them too sweet. This place made them just right. ALSO they have a cashew flavored caipirinha that blew me out of the water– I mean wow.

Note of caution, the place is pretty small but who cares you are drinking a cashew caipirinha.

  2. Barzinho is a cute Brazilian restaurant in Manhattan's lower east side that serves traditional Brazilian cuisine. The owner and chef Leo is clearly passionate about his food and often takes time to talk with his patrons. The restaurant itself is small and my friend's birthday filled the entire restaurant. The decor is very low key, almost slap dash which gives the place the feel of an authentic Brazilian village restaurant. On occasion, Leo will play classic Soul Train videos which may inspire an impromptu Soul Train line. I recommend this place if you're looking for a low-key non-pretentious evening with friends

  3. We were heading to an show at Pier 36 aka Basketball city last week and was looking for a place close by with good food and drinks (and not your typical LES bar).  Very happy I found Barzinho – thanks Yelp!!!

I can see this place being a popular hang out during the World Cup over the summer, it's intimate, and casual, with a large screen TV.  Barzinho has a friendly vibe, the kind that place that transports you to anywhere you want to be – it doesn't matter where it is, as long as you're there with the people you want to chill with – plus delicious food and great drinks.

It was way after dinner time when we stopped in, there were 2 – 3 other tables with customers enjoying conversations over some after dinner drinks.  We relaxed for a few minutes at our table, without anyone noticing our addition to the dining room.  Leo then comes by and apologizes, he thought we were his usual Tuesday night cronies – offers us menus and makes us some fantastic caipirinhas.

We had the picanha com arroz and pão de queijo.  The steak was well seasoned and tender, with well balanced accompaniments.  I actually missed the cheese bread at my quick glance of the menu but Leo points them out to me during our chat and we couldn't help but to stay for some pão de queijo and a carafe of the caipirinhas.  The cheese bread was warm, fresh and tasty, I would come back for more any day.

Muito obrigada, Leo for a lovely start to our night!
