Too expensive in general.
I miss their pasta specials where they cooked the pasta for you, that wasn't bad at all…
It's kind of an oasis, since it takes blocks and blocks to walk to any alternative, so I guess it could be worst. The service is also pretty friendly and they do tend to have interesting stuff in the bulk food section.
I like the fact you can haggle for the sandwiches.
Battery Place Market is easily the go-to place for fresh food and grocery produce in the Battery Place neighborhood. While prices are certainly higher than your typical food store around the city, you'd be hard pressed to find a place with such good selection of freah, organic, and gourmet foods that are perfect for lunch and dinner.
The staff is very friendly, and it is led by an awesome head chef, Anthony. While the other BPM at 240 Murray St services the office crowd at lunch and has a better espresso machine, this location offers much better variety.
Personal highlights include a delicious latte by a lovely barista and the delicious sandwiches.
Too funny, I love you and hate you all in the same breath.
Fabulous deli selection, great meals you make up for the evening. And the fruit, pastry selection is awesome. Oh and Stumptown Coffee – yahh.
But you are pricey. I mean off the chart in some things. Seriously $10 for a pound of butter? Come on. I may live in the Financial District, and earn more than a minimum wage, but hell I am going to be wallet raped and walk out smiling.
Tweak the pricing and I would be a fan.
Must be a great convenience if you live in BPC. But my, the prices!!
Good for: Sullivan Street bread, Dough donuts and Robicellis cupcakes. Problem is at 12pm they only had 1 flavor of each available!
A little too expensive
I dont come here that often as items are too expensive. Fine in a pinch if you are desperate, and also a good place to get a food or bakery gift.
Produce quality is okay but lower than whole foods for the same price. The store is clean and looks good so i give it three stars instead of two.
Basically this store is for high income folks or singles who have a lot of discretionary income.
If I lived in NYC, I would be a regular at this spot. GREAT selection of organic / gluten-free… products at reasonable prices (for NYC). Though I didn't get any, the prepared food looked delicious and there was a big variety.
To the corporate bees working in the food wasteland called Battery Park, the complete renovation of Goldman Sachs Alley is a much needed metamorphosis. No longer do I have to run to Rite Aid to grab Chex Mix and Lindor truffles and call it a lunch!
The latest addition, Battery Place Market (open from 6:30 am til 7 or 8 pm I think), has become a new magnet for my unhealthy junk food addiction. This place sells Dough doughnuts. As in the artisan Doughnut Plant-esque doughnuts. As in the doughnuts that come in Lemon Merengue, Chai Tea, Dulce de Leche, Coconut, Nutella Bombolini, Blood Orange, Raspberry varieties for $2.50. I'm regretting typing this, since some of you will snatch them up before I make my daily runs now, so I suggest you pick up the Robicelli cupcakes for $2.75 or the $1 Sullivan St Bakery cookies instead.
Their food tends to be slightly expensive, but when you're neighbors with $7 burgers from Shake Shack, $11 salads from Beans & Greens, $4 croissants from Payard, i guess you've got to join in with the competitive pricing. The $6.75 Greek salad is a good steal though, and their Chicken Caesar has quickly become part of my lunch rotation. The sandwiches have been good albeit pricier than what I've gotten at Devon & Blakely, but there is a marked different in quality (Tuscan Ham baguette sandwich for $8 was good and I imagine the Steak baguette sandwich with truffle aioli for $10 is good as well).
Since it's just opened, coming here at 12 has been a breeze. No fellow office drones to scream over when I'm telling the sandwich guy what I want, no lines, and a place to finally indulge my insatiable doughnut cravings.
