Bayhouse Waterfront Bar and Grille

“My mom ordered their coconuts shrimp spring rolls.”

“The shrimp shaker is sooooo fresh, and flavorful; Senta Fe steak warp and flounder sandwich are all good!”

“Across the pier were some houses and in the far off distance some facility of sorts which detracted a bit from the view but the nice breeze made that up.”

  1. First and foremost, I am so happy that a restaurant like this is in my neighborhood, ROSEDALE! It was legit 8 minutes away from me. I'm shocked that I never knew about this place! It sucks because I spent the whole summer not knowing it existed! Oh well! I can see myself frequenting here during the fall as well, no biggie. Next summer this will be my hang out.

For starters, it's pretty tricky to find. We would have never expected it to be where it was. My suggestion to you? Follow the sign that says "Bayhouse"…that is all.

It was a beautiful day! We sat outside by the water. I forgot our waitresses' name — she was a little rough around the edges but she was nice nonetheless. The vibe was very relaxing. (Perfect for an impromptu date night).

I ordered buffalo chicken tenders with fries and a Long Island iced tea. The chicken tenders were crispy, yet tender..(no pun) and the fries were crisp to perfection. Pretty big too. My mom ordered their coconuts shrimp spring rolls. She's a picky eater, but she LOVED it. Said it filled her up to. Mind you, these things are appetizers lol. The highlight of my visit though?! Their Long Island Iced tea. Boyyyyyy. It had me right where I wanted to be! Any place with a heavy handed bartender is A+ in my book 😉 plus they close late! 12am.

Can't wait to come back and actually try an entre! I absolutely enjoyed visiting here!

  2. Love this place! We went for my son's graduation and had a wonderful time. We sat outside and absolutely enjoyed the view. Took a bunch of pics and had drinks before our lunch. The breeze was amazing! The drinks were deelish. The food was good, not great but I think that the surroundings and atmosphere make everything come together very well. I would def like to come back another day and have something dif, I had a salad but can't remember which. The portions are pretty big and shareable. I would def recommend.

  3. This is a great little hidden gem! Water front and pretty good food makes for a fun lunch or evening. Service is hit or miss, in my 4 experiences waterside, I've waited approximately 6-9mins before being greeted. After my 4th visit, it's safe to say this is the norm here. Unless a waitress is clearly notified that you are there or ready to order, you will wait.

I recommend ordering everything at once, as you may not see your server often.

The Pina colada is decent, fries are good. The shrimp/"lobster" roll was good after it was salt and peppered. I've had the coconut shrimp egg rolls a couple times, they are a little different so I enjoy them.

  4. Came in yesterday and it was perfect!

The weather, the service, and the food this time was amazing! The view is just a fortunate add-on because there is NO spot like this around here.

We sat ourselves outside on the deck and were instantly greeted with menus. It looks like they got a new look…Not too sure because it's been over a year and I didn't take pics last time but it was very calm, clean, and relaxing still.

We stayed outside because the wind was under control yesterday. We ordered 2 Mimosas each which was just on the money (taste & price) and I ordered the fried flounder sandwich. The flounder was so big! I had to eat the part that hungover the bread first, then I got to my sandwich! Bestie ordered some big ol' steamed shrimp for an appetizer and a steak melt. Not a shrimp fan but the steak melt was excellent. Our meals were great as well as our service. I knew they deserved second chance. I'll be back.

  5. So far, so good! My first visit to the Bayhouse wasn't bad. I was here with friends and we had some pretty good food. All I can comment on was the amazing brownie a la mode… Oh MY GOODNESS! It was a total foodgasm in my mouth! Five stars for that automatically!
I decided to give this place four stars because I liked the potato skins but it could use some more love. I plan on coming back here to try their burger. An update is will soon come!

  6. Tucked away at the end of a long windy road and located in an unassuming house if you didn't know about Bay House you'd likely miss it.

I've been here a couple of times with my family. The first time we loved it (service was great, food was delicious), the second time the experience wasn't so great (couldn't find our server, some people weren't pleased with their meals), the third time it was back to a good experience.

The menu is large but not too large, the prices are good, you can sit outdoors by the bay and there's plenty of parking so we'll likely continue to come to bay house when we want the City Island experience without having to pay the toll!

  7. I decided to check out The Bayhouse with family on a Monday, due to craving seafood. This restaurant is located in some mysterious area in which you wouldn't even think that a restaurant would exist! We drove past a Holiday Inn, made various turns, and I couldn't help but think that the back roads in which it took for us to get to The Bayhouse just seemed so sketchy. We pulled into a parking lot and immediately walked into an open space with run down looking plastic chairs and a blue bucket with a number identifying each table. Initially, I didn't see any servers outside to greet us, however, we decided to just grab a table. I am honestly unsure as to why my fellow yelpers were impressed by the scenery at The Bayhouse. During the day all I saw was brown water, houses in the distance, and strangely a yellow cautionary sign that said "Crocs Beware." I don't know if that crocodile sign was a joke or not, but I have never known of crocodiles being in Rosedale lol. I am assuming that during the night, the ambiance might be slightly different as there are probably lights in the distance, but then again, I still wouldn't be impressed.

About ten minutes later, our server approached us with a menu. I asked her about their Happy Hour, however, she informed me that Happy Hour was ONLY at the bar and not applicable for dining in. That was a turn off, however, I opted for a non-alcoholic Pina Colada, due to the server stating that it tastes "very good." The Pina Colada arrived to my table looking messy with some of the Pina Colada dripping down the side of the plastic cup. I took one sip, and immediately realized that The Bayhouse won the award for the nastiest Pina Colada I am ever tasted in my life. It was extremely sweet and had a weird after taste!!! Who knew that it was possible to ruin a Pina Colada?! My father also ordered a Pina Colada, and he wasn't impressed with the taste either. As I looked over the menu, I was disappointed that they didn't have oysters. I figured that I would try the shrimp spring rolls, which actually came out looking like egg rolls. Now I am a shrimp lover, however did not enjoy the taste of the spring rolls at all! I seriously contemplated whether I should order an entrée, however, I was extremely hungry and opted for the broiled flounder which rice and vegetables. I can honestly say that the flounder tasted decent, however, I came to the conclusion that nothing stands out about this restaurant at all! I picked around my food and left The Bayhouse still hungry.

There are plenty of other restaurants in NYC that are overlooking water in which you can enjoy higher quality food and tasty beverages. I would not return to The Bayhouse, as my experience wasn't that great. If I am going to drive through back roads the food better be good, and sadly The Bayhouse was a waste of time.

  8. Stopped into the Bay house bc I had heard so much from Mariah B. about this cool bar with a beautiful view right in Rosedale, Queens. Believe me I was as surprised as you probably are right now reading this.

After some light eats at another Rosedale restaurant we took the "snake road" that connects Rosedale to what we call Five Towns (atleast I call it that) to this secret location. I say secret because it's in the cut! At first, I followed my GPS and ended up turning left then right then left onto the tiniest streets ever. Pulled up into the parking lot and the first thing I noticed walking to the entrance was the beautiful outdoor area. After getting a closer look at it later on in the evening, I noticed it's set up like a half circle. Maybe seating for about 25-30 people with basic Home Depot outdoor furniture. The view of Jamaica bay is actually beautiful! No fancy NYC skyline or any of that but when there are boats in the bay it makes for nice pictures.

We opted to sit at the bar bc the plan in our heads was to just stop in for a few drinks (we checked out the outside area when we left). The menu is basic, that of your standard bar; fries, burgers, sandwiches, wings etc. Only thing that stood out to me were the shrimp shakers (highly recommended from other Yelpers). They had three different flavor options, I chose the California. Nine jumbo shrimp warmed and placed in a shaker with coconut flakes and pineapple chunks. Our bartender, Pam who btw was mad cool, shook it in front of me and poured them into a bowl, oooooooo fancy presentation lol. The texture and flavor of the coconut flakes was nice but the pineapple was too subtle for me. Overall it was only ok; the shrimp were really huge though. My friend said he enjoyed his dozen clams and his Tangeray, grapefruit juice, cranberry cocktail; It was mixed well. I had two Heinekens and a shot of Bacardi and that put me right where I needed to be.

Great vibe, I would definitely return for drinks and to enjoy the outdoor area
