Great concept, poorly executed. The best BBQ is never drenched in sauce so when you tell a customer the ribs are dry rubbed and they ask for some sauce in the side, then they likely don't want their dry ribs floating in a brown lake of sauce. The brown lake was so determined that it made sure to pollute both of my sides, which was sad because the beans would have been decent minus equal parts of BBQ sauce. The cole slaw on the other hand, well that was just plain awful so the lake of sauce had no effect good or bad. Maybe it's me, but I never grew a palate for the plastic flavor of bagged coleslaw that has not been rinsed properly. As for the ribs, the smoke flavor was good, but the meat was not the greatest slab of bone and tended to be dry in some sections. Lastly, who are they kidding for a 16 dollar rib platter with 2 small sides and no corn bread???
One thing I will say as a true NC BBQ fan is that their NC sauce is on point!! Spicy and sweet vinegar base.
Do yourself a favor and drive up to Montclair for a good old family run BBQ joint
