Went here for a few beers after work expecting nothing – pleasantly surprised!
It's a nice spot to sit and catch up with a few people. Good beer list and serves standard bar food. Didn't get time to eat though. There are several rooms in the back for a good group if you don't want to sit at the front – it's a bit small in the front.
I think there's an outdoor area in the back but it was closed when we were there.
Would deft go back again!
Small, dark, with a neighborhood dive-bar kind of feel. Nice bartenders but expensive ($7) beers for the type of atmosphere. Maybe it's because they recently opened, but the food service was abysmal. 30 mins to get a sandwich when the place was pretty empty – not acceptable.
Also, to call this place a beer garden is a bit of a misnomer. There's some outdoor seating in the back, but by that definition my house can be a beer garden too. When I hear "beer garden", I think of places like Zeppelin Hall in Hoboken or the beer garden at the Standard. This place is definitely not it.
They have a few tables inside in the back if you don't want to go outside, although for the life of me I could not figure out why they decided to place 2 tables right next to the kitchen. Worst placement ever.
No real music, and to make matters worse the TV commercials were blasting louder than an Avicii concert. The saving grace of this establishment was that the staff was polite and helpful. Don't think I'll be back though.
Bedford Falls is the closest pub to my apartment in Manhattan. It may be the only one nearby not on Second or First Avenues. The food is decent but doesn't elevate its status to that of a gastropub. What makes this place special is the friendliness of the crowd and the large selection of beer on tap. The multiple flat-screens in the bar area guarantee the place is packed when New York sports teams are playing. I also love the music they play. I'm listening to Bon Dylan singing Mister Tamborine Man as I write this. Oh, they have Spaten on tap.
decent bar, ended up getting a big space for our group of people last night. the service was alright, we had to keep going back to get our waiter for more service. the food was good bar food – we ordred the nachos, loaded tater tots, sliders…everything was long gone. great selection of beers too. if you are around that area and want to stop in for a drink and/or meet a friend, good place to go.
