  1. Definitely come here for a quick and cheap lunch in the middle of jury duty!  Ordered the pork and chives dumpling noodle soup and it hit the spot on a chilly day.  Everyone who worked there was super nice and attentive – would come around asking how the food was.  From what I observed, it looks like the dumplings were handmade and were super tasty.  Well spent $5!

  2. I bookmarked this spot yesterday because I had to report for jury duty today. Literally less than 2 mins walk from the courthouse. Lots of seating at the back of the house. I ordered the boiled Pork and Chives dumplings which takes about 10 mins before the staff member brings over your food. Also I got a Seasame Sandwich with Beef…why oh why two things I hate the most (carrots and cilantro). I am eating layer by layer as it OD carrots and cilantro shoot man. The beef is not sliced but bits of pieces of it #bummer! Mmmmm the dumplings has a lot of the pork and chives  fillings and the dumpling wrapper is thin and yummy with every bite.

Next time I am just going to get dumplings or noodles as I am stuffed like a roasted pig with an apple in my mouth lol

  3. theyre VERY similar to vanessas dumpling in chinatown but their flavor isnt comparable to theirs… and this place, their price is higher than vanessa's as well..

my bf and i ordered 2 peking duck sesame pancakes, a wonton soup and a veggie & murhsroom order or noodles.

the peking duck's seasame pancake, the pancake itself was very hard to chew cause it was sort of burnt so it took a lot of flavor out of the peking duck. there wasnt a lot of duck and barely any sauce.
the noodles were a huge portion for $5 but it was literally random pieces of veggies…
the wonton soup was not good. FULL of skin and a cm piece of meat per wonton….

the people there were nice but it wasnt good. i would not go back again.

  4. RECOMMENDED

As an attorney who litigates not only on Long Island, but also in the five New York City counties and various workers' compensation boards, I often need to get a decent but quick lunch as I scurry from venue to venue.

In Brooklyn, there is Trader Joe's, Sahadi's and a multitude of restaurants on Court Street, Montague Street and Atlantic Avenue. In Manhattan, there is Chinatown and great options in the financial district. The Bronx even has the Court Deli(although I observed someone poop in the dining room about ten years ago as I dined there before a Yankee game). The area around the Queens courthouses, by contrast, became a culinary wasteland once that great corner cafe/luncheonette on Sutphin Boulevard across from the courthouses closed.

Not any more! Beijing Dumpling House is a very casual takeout and dine in option across from the Supreme Court. There are about eight small tables in the back of its narrow rectangular space. It feature a wide array of delectable dumpling dishes. I had eaten the pork and chive dumplings in some type of sauce twice before, but on 5/13, chose to try the same dumplings in soup ($4.50….but $5.00 ordered "spicy"). I ordered the spicy version at the counter and got a ticket. The pleasant young man working the cash register and taking orders brought my soup promptly.

The soup was delicious. It contained four very large and tasty dumplings which were loaded with pork. I cut them in half to ladle in the broth to get a quasi-soup dumpling experience. The soup, generously topped with hot chili peppers, was extremely flavorful and not too salty. It contained two pieces of nicely cooked Bok Choy Cabbage and some very thin (rice?) noodles.

The nice lady behind the counter walked to my table several times to ask if I was enjoying the soup. Yes, ma'am, I was.

Beijing House fed me a great lunch and, after only 20 minutes, it was off to Hillside Avenue, the F train to 169th and a short walk to the Comp Board. I will definitely try to juggle my schedule to return and try other items on the menu when I'm next in Jamaica.

  5. This is the best place to eat in Jamaica, hands down.

Beijing Dumpling House might be nestled in the middle of the block, but everyone with taste buds knows that this is where to go when you're craving fried or boiled dumpling euphoria.

There are two things I need to mention before even talking about the food:

First! This place is So. Clean. No, seriously. The floors and tables are kept generally spotless, but it does help that it's a semi-new construction. Even the kitchenware still looks new and sparkling. I tried finding that familiar view of brown, burnt, stained pots and pans – the ones I tell myself add flavor and character to the food – but none could be found.

Second, they are incredible nice here. This is one of the friendliest places I've ever ordered food from. Super polite, attentive, kind, etc. It's truly the definition of service with a smile without it being weird.

    Okay, food:
The dumplings are stored, neatly organized, in the nearby fridge, ready to be cooked to order. The most popular item, I think, is the pan fried pork and chive dumplings, and for good reason. The ingredients taste fresh, and you can see the chives have been freshly cut and are vibrant green. The pork is flavorful, without chunks of chewy fat. The seasoning is great, with the right amount of salt and what tastes like.. cinnamon? Cardamom? What the heck is it? Certainly makes it aromatic though.
It helps that they're fried perfectly, with just the right shade of tan-brown and the thin, light crisp.

The chicken and basil dumplings are good, different though, and an interesting dyed(?) pink color. Still fresh, still tasty, just a little light on the basil. I prefer the pork, honestly, but you won't go wrong with these.

Keep in mind that if you want boiled dumplings, they're also made to order and take at least 10 minutes. Be patient! They're delicious.

Of course, bubble tea is available too. This is particularly exciting because it's one of the few places that does it decently. The tapioca is cooked to the right texture, with proper sweetness from being boiled in honey/sugar, whatever they use. Keep in mind, it's still the cheap, powdered stuff that you shake up, so if that's what you're craving, here it is.

Easily worth the walk if you're in the neighborhood looking for something tasty and affordable.

  6. On my first day of jury duty I walked by this place and noticed the crowd.  Unfortunately, I had already eaten my lunch.  I then checked Yelp and noticed the good reviews.  I went there on my second day.  I wish I had discovered this place sooner.

I ordered the Beijing noodles (in a pork sauce) and pork dumplings along with a sesame pancake.  The fried dumplings were amazing, and will squirt if you bite into them too quickly.  The Beijing noodles were wonderfully flavorful, but adding a bit of Sriracha sauce really gave them a great kick.  I loved it!!!

The sesame pancake was good, but I wasn't really impressed with it.  However, I had it plain.  The cashier had mentioned they are usually cut in half and used to make sandwiches.  I can imagine that they would be much better served that way.

The cashier (and I think the owner) was super nice and helpful.  When I was finished, she walked by my table and asked if I had enjoyed my meal.  I gave her an emphatic YES.

In terms of decor, the place is okay.  The tables are clean, and the restroom is clean too.

I really wish this place was closer to where I live.  It's roughly 45 minutes away from my place by subway, and the parking situation in this area is really bad. If the owner is reading this review and thinking of expanding, please open a restaurant in Astoria!!!

If you happen to be in this area on jury duty, or work in the area, I wholeheartedly recommend that you visit this place!!!

  7. A true find in a neighborhood that doesn't outwardly appear to appeal to the Asian community, however a fine meal at an unbelievably low price is appetizing to any and all groups in all shapes and sizes.

Running late, such is my rabbit in the top coat attempt at controlling time, I dashed in and out in a matter of seven turns of the enormous lo mein strainer, sizably comparable to traffic and transit signage.

Two orders of 8 dumplings & a soda or water, fork over a twenty and I'm handed over dinner for two and thirteen dollars change.

If your looking to buy in bulk, grab thirty for seven, nine or ten dollars respectfully depending on your filler preference.
Quality of these hand made double bites of deliciousness gives me full confidence in the high rating I assigned.

The friendliness I initially thought came from the tip I gave, a mighty dollar fifty, had no direct reflection at all. Sincere in their thanks as I rushed the door like Deacon Jones rushing Bart Starr, the "thank you", "come again soon" echoed and reverberated  beyond the confines of Jamaica's new dumpling mecca.

  8. Go here if you have jury duty!

Dumplings are fresh and house made.  You can get them steamed or pan-fried.  I got the combo with the dan-dan noodles, but wish I had ordered more dumplings instead.  The sauce for the dan-dan noodles was a little bland and the noodles were overcooked.  They did not have a chew to them at all.

Definitely try the dumplings and pass on the noodles.  The sauce for the dumplings was also very good!

Service is great here.  The employees are very nice and helpful.  Prices are great.
