Belle Shoals has very well deserved uniform raves – and going here just once I see why. The staff are exceptional. I don't think I've had a friendlier bar tender in New York City. Also – you gotta love a bar that does shots out of shotgun cartridges. This is so much more than just a bar, but I'll get to food in a few…
The superb cocktail menu ($13 each) is chock-full of great mixology. My starting point was "Raisin Hell" (cutty sark prohibition, jagermeister, punt e mes, px sherry). It was one of the best cocktails I've had. There was a scotchy, raisiny, chocolatey, minty freshness – all of which sound like they wouldn't go together well…but trust me, it works and it works well! I next had the "Lil' Slice of Heaven" (mellow corn, blackstrap, dry curacao, benedictine, pecan orgeat, lemon) and it was YUM! My guy called it a "Peacan Pie-Tai". So good.
The food was also really great. I had the Po' Boy (fried oysters and slaw on a baguette – $15) and Old Bay Fries (a little pricey at $7…but still yummy). After a few drinks and some bites, my bar tab was higher than I'd hoped for a Monday night…but at least it was all really, really good!
Can't wait to come back and try out the INCREDIBLE back patio with a bar and tons of open space!
After reading about Belle Shoals in TimeOut NY I couldn't wait to check this bar out. I'm very happy I did! The cocktails are exceptional – the Lil Slice of Heaven really was heaven (pecan pie in a glass) and the Auntie Bellum was equally tasty and very cool, served with toasted marshmallows and your own personal tiny bottle of grand marnier.
Absolutely go for happy hour when even the fancy cocktails are only $6.50 instead of $13! Plus $1 oysters…oh yes, this is a great happy hour. Lots of foods on the menu to nibble on, too, if you get hungry, like the jalapeño hush puppies that we devoured in mere seconds.
Bartenders were nice, there's a juke box waiting to be played, and a really cool outdoor patio area for chilling on nice summer nights. Definitely will return!
I was a bit worried when Good Co closed and they started throwing around words like craft cocktails and southern inspired for the new renovated bar. Man was I wrong. Sure you can get a $12 craft cocktail that will be fantastic, but they have kept plenty of $6 beer/shot specials and clear cans to make this a stand out. And check this out – their lemon garnishes are in the shape of guitars.
Oh and they added food! What I have had so far has been fantastic – Fried oyster po boy and the skate sandwich were both fresh and delicious. The Jalapeño hush puppies are out of this world.
Decor change was minimal but it removed the dive bar aspects and kicked it up a notch. Gone is big buck hunter and it is replaced with a working, vintage wurlitzer jukebox. Added is some cheeky neon signs and exposed wood southern appointments. The backyard is not yet open but I hear they will be opening it soon.
Staff is great, top notch people that really seem to care about the art of a craft cocktail and not making it a cringey over the top douchefest. I appreciate that.
Absolutely fantastic addition to the neighborhood and I am going to call this a must visit in the area.
Delicious drinks made by a great bartender!
"A lil piece of heaven".. Best of the best! It really tasted like a whiskey pecan pie.. I wish I knew how to make it.. Yes, it's that good!
I like the outdoor sitting area, very nice and chill. It's perfect for summer!
Stopped by here after getting doughnuts at Manila Social Club. Cute, Southern themed bar with limited choices on the menu. We loved the ambiance and decor they had.
First thing's first – we walked in and had no clue what to do. Do we seat ourselves? Should we wait for a hostess? No one greeted us so we just headed towards the outdoor seating.
The outside patio was SO cute! There were violet hanging flowers (fake) all around and it felt like I was transported to the South.
We sat down at a table and no one came over to us. So one of us went up to the bar outside to see what's up. I guess they just opened so are low on staff and you have to go up and order everything at the bar and they will bring it over to you.
When we decided on drinks, I went up to the bar outside and ordered for all of us. It took a while before the bartender even noticed me because there were 3 people hovering over the bar outside. Didn't even bother to move aside or anything when they saw me.
The drinks were good. I tried the Antie Bellum. +1 star to the bartender on explaining how you drink this for the first sip/taste. Take a swig of the Grand Marnier, then a sip of the cocktail, then eat a marshmallow.
The po boys were okay. The fried oysters and slaw was delicious, but the bread was no bueno. My friend seemed to like her fried skate on a biscuit.
We shared an order of the old bay fries and I would say that was the best. The highlight of this dining experience was the shirt of one of the bartenders haha.
With the closing of Crown Vic (RIP) Belle Shoals will be my new go-to outdoor bar!
Beautiful outdoor area, creative cocktails, bomb ass fried chicken and $45 unlimited rose. What more could a girl ask for!
