  1. I have grown to like their teas as there is a really subtle taste to them. I am a huge fan of the ginger mint tea that is light and subtle and not so over invasive as others on the taste pallet. I paid about $16 CND plus tax for a decent size bag.

  2. This is QUINTESSENTIAL Williamsburg. You're walking down a street with graffiti on industrial metal doors, scaffolding on shmancy-apartments-to-be, and trash in the gutter, and you pull open a door on an unmarked building. All of a sudden, like Alice falling into the rabbit hole, you're in the middle of a little forest. Literally. There are trees and plants everywhere. The place looks like a horticulturist's display in an Anthropologie catalogue.

Oh, and tea. Lots and lots and lots of tea.

5 stars for decorations – because seriously, this is a cross between a greenhouse and Anthropologie – but the prices are absurd. Do you have $26 to spend on 4 oz of tea? I don't.

  3. Cute, friendly, adorable little seating area. They are expanding so they will have a small cafe for buying beverages on the go. It's a little hidden and there isn't much to see around here but if you are a tea connoisseur it's worth a drop by. Plenty of places in the neighborhood and NYC serve Bellocq, so not an immediate need to stop by this location.

  4. My last trip through the area saw me spend most of my time in Brooklyn. I didnt realize how many of the products that are hard to find at home I was basically walking distance to here. Mast brothers chocolate, Eveil Twin Beer, and now Bellocq tea. It was warm when I was last here and iced was the way I was going to go. Some exquisite and tasty black tea does the trick. Darjeeling, Assam TGF, Etoile deI inde are among my faves…

  5. Heaven. Heaven. Heaven. Heaven. This place is amazing!!! The tea selection is amazing and the quality is absolutely phenomenal. Coming from a tea aficionado, this is a place where any tea lover will find what they are looking for. But non-tea aficionados need not be intimidated. There is no pretension!

  6. I absolutely adore this place. It's a beautiful respite from this industrial part of Greenpoint. It's a little hard to find, but there is a little sign on the door and a big bell hanging by it. Once you step inside, I know this sounds cheesy, but it really is like you're transported to another world. It's so entirely peaceful and calm in there. The music, the smell of the tea, the quiet, and the muted sunlight (the windows are covered so that light still comes through but it's less harsh) all combine to make this the perfect little shop. The interior is gorgeous. The teas are all displayed so that you can see and smell each kind, and there are curtains leading into a cute little seating area with light pink chairs and couches, tables, and plants. There is wood everywhere, and the dark purple of the walls, the bright yellow tea canisters behind the counter, and the old measuring set all added to the perfect atmosphere. It was so peaceful I almost wanted to stay and take a nap!

I spent quite a while smelling the different teas and reading about them on the pamphlet that is provided. The girl who was working was super sweet and knowledgeable. She didn't rush me or push me into trying anything or buying anything. I asked her a couple of questions and she gave me great suggestions on which teas to get for what purposes and how to brew them at home. I ended up buying a chai and a lemongrass one, and she even asked me if I wanted any samples to take home, which I did! Once I chose my teas, they were measured carefully into gorgeous packaging, and she handwrote (in beautiful handwriting!) on each one the name of the tea and how many ounces were in the package. I had a few other purchases from the day so she helped me arrange everything into one bag, which was really sweet of her!
