  1. I got takeout here  awhile ago. Very legit Mex food without breaking the bank.

It's nothing fancy and I'm not too sure about the neighborhood. Drive and pickup is my go-to  option.

  2. This is the real deal and a much needed addition to the neighborhood.  There are not many places you can a huge meal for under 10 dollars.  This is a true taqueria serving authentic Mexican food.  So if your expecting Taco Bell, chipotle, or something similar, you will be disappointed.  The tacos are not packed to the gills with toppings like tomatoes, lettuce, and sour cream.  Tacos come traditional style with a meat of your choice in a fresh corn tortilla and damn are the meats good!  The pastor or slow roasted pork is jam packed with flavor and super tender.  The enchiladas with mole are a solid choice as well… $7.50 for three enchiladas with your choice of sauce, topped with fresh crema and a side of rice and beans.   Sure your not likely gonna get meat raised without antibiotics like chipotle offers now,  but your also not going to wait on a 20 minute line to be eat Americanized versions of this solid cuisine.

Top it all off, your supporting a family run business!  They also deliver, which is a huge plus.

  3. I wanted some Mexican food and wanted to go somewhere different than the restaurants I usually frequent….
As soon as I stepped in I liked it…
It was nice , clean and inviting …. The daily specials and menu were written on a chalkboard ….
Upon reading the menu it's sort of reminded me of Chipotle with a twist of real authentic Mexican flavors…
I ordered the Chicken bowl ( which includes yellow rice , pinto beans, jalapeno peppers, sauteed onions, Pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, sour cream and chicken )
I'm going to be honest …. I don't know if it was the hot 90 degree weather but the food was lacking some flavor …. The beans were tasteless and so was the sprinkled couple of chicken pieces…. That's why I deducted a star….
Hubby ordered the daily special which included grilled cactus, grilled chicken, grilled steak ,rice, beans , fresh cheese and tortillas … I wish I would of ordered that instead of the bowl …. Hubby kept slapping my hand like if I was a mosquito because I kept picking out of his plate and barely finished my food…
We also ordered guacamole and let me tell y'all…
It was one of the best guacamole's I've ever had beside my own homemade …. Props for that!!!
The sauces on the side were also very tasty …. I loved the green sauce the best and the red one was on FIRE and I love spicy food so if u don't stay away….
Also ordered 3 leches cake to end the meal and it was also good…..
And may I add that service was great … very attentive even the teenage boy was pleasantly nice….
Definitely will come back and give it another shot.

  4. My go to local spot for take out. Tasty authentic food, cheap meals and friendly service. Doesn't get better than that! Try the carnitas tacos and put both the green and orange hot sauce on it! SO GOOD. If you are looking for something different, try the pastor quesadilla which is pastor meat, pineapple, oxaca cheese, cilantro and onions. You won't be disappointed by Benjis.

Tip: There is parking in the rear of the building and they do online ordering.

  5. Benji's is one of the better Mexican food options in this area. Interestingly enough, they're right next to Cactus Charly #2–keeping the competition close (literally). Park on Main St. or at the pay lot on Valley Rd.; if you're picking up an order, they have five spots behind the establishment. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly.

Campechanos Tacos and Chorizo Tacos ($7.50): You could get all four tacos with the same meat or change it up (one of each or two different meats). Campechanos is a mix of al pastor and carnitas. The tacos were good and the pork even had a nice crust to it, while the chorizo tacos were flavorful; they were kind of crispy. However, I found the corn tortillas they use to be a little too small; they were smaller than the palms of my hands.

Gorditas de Chicharron ($8.50): They did a pretty good job with the gorditas–perfect size and  crunchiness. There was a good amount of chicharron, cotija, lettuce, and a thick yellowish sauce that held everything together. It goes well with the green salsa they give you; the red is way too watery, so it'll just run through it.

We stopped by for takeout, but there are a handful of tables and counter seats. I tried the tres leches and it was pretty good–moist and not too sweet. Their horchata had a smooth and subtle taste, but like the other items, it was just 'A-OK' for me.

  6. I have no complains about this place. It really deserves 5 stars. I got the burrito bowel with al pastor ($7.50) $8 and some change after tax. At first I thought the portion looked small. But after mixing everything and seeing the ingredients, it was a good amount. The ingredients tasted fresh and the sauces gave the food an extra kick in flavor. The service was good. Our waiter was attentive, although my friend and I were the only customers at 7:30pm on a Monday. There were a few customers there for take-out. Bonus points, the restaurant has free parking in the rear.

  7. As far as I know, this is the best taqueria in the area. Everything is homemade. Ingredients are fresh. They even have a vertical grill for their pastor! And of course, the traditional green walls complete the experience.

Tacos are what you expect – corn tortillas, yummy meats, onion and cilantro. Also included are lime, cucumber and radish slices. Both green and red sauces are fresh and both delicious. I would have liked them to be a tad hotter.

Chilaquiles are wonderful. Fried tortilla chips covered in sauce. Chipotle red sauce is tasty (again, I prefer a little hotter but I understand they have to make the dish accessible to more people), and again the pastor was delicious.

The horchata was on point. Just enough cinnamon so that it's good enough to drink throughout the entire meal. Their large is friggin' huge! It's large enough to share.

Service is great. Our server was always asking if everything was okay. Maybe 1-2 times more than he needed to.

Overall, highly recommended, and I definitely would come back for more!
