Best Buy Wine Spirit Warehouse

“It's huge by city standards and offers a large selection of cheap and expensive wine, as well as liquors.”

“One of the few places that you can find a 2007 Pinot Noir just sitting on the shelf or a Cabernet Sauvignon with the aroma that'll make you salivate.”

“A fairly large chilled room for ready to drink wine and they sell mini bottles of wine and champagne individually (perfect to pick up on the way to a picnic!).”

  1. You come here for your grey goose, bacardi, patron, etc… needs. Cheaper than most spots in NY, no frills… please just skip the wine (I think they buy bottles where the label does not match the product on wholesale).

  2. I live extremely close to this wine store. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

Yesterday after work, I stopped in to take a look around and I was thoroughly impressed. Although the store itself is not aesthetically pleasing, it does have an extensive wine selection.

I have been on a Spanish wine kick lately and I enjoyed browsing the aisles. The wines are organized by country, which includes Spain, Chile, Italy, France, Chile, and New Zealand. They have a large selection of Riojas (not my thing).** They were a bit lacking on Tempranillos (I like this type), but I won't gripe about it because they have a whole section on Chilean wines. Relatively unknown, but wow does Chile make some good wines. They also have a very large selection of Malbecs, if that is your thing.

They also have 2 bottle of wines for $10. I am not sure that they are drinkable as I checked out the wines offered through this deal, and they look kind of scary.

This place also has a "chilled room" for the wines. Another nice addition.

This place is going to come in very handy when I need to bring something to a summer soiree. All my friends are going to think I am an alcoholic and honestly, that aint too far from the truth. Just kidding.

**I stand corrected. Jonas pointed out that if I like Tempranillo, then I must also like Rioja. So I guess I like Rioja after all.

  3. I hate liquor stores, the bullet proof glass, the neighborhood joints are so ghetto, but I love liquor… here lies the problem. This place is cool…very large selection from all regions, they have discounted wines the two for $10.00 deals and then there's the pricey high end stuff. The site is well lit and the set up is customer friendly, you can walk thru the aisles and peruse various selections.  The store is open until midnight.

Downside….when I pulled out my American Express card they looked at me as if I had just lifted the card  off an LIU student during a stick up, then proceeded to tell me that they do not accept credit just debit.

    But I like it here.

  4. It's been a long week and all that I want to do is enjoy a glass of wine once I get home. The thought of this makes me happy until I realize that I don't have any wine at home and my very local liquor store keeps their wine inventory pretty basic to say the least. I also despise liquor stores where you have to talk through glass as you break your neck to see what options are available to you and quickly feel like a shady crackhead or hooker. This calls for a stop-off to my favorite Brooklyn liquor store, which provides several open aisles of wine and liquor options.

The staff is always nice, welcoming and willing to help you find that random wine from Portugal that makes you smile after a long week. I start off by searching aisle by aisle not finding what I want until I cave in and ask the guy at the register who quickly walks me over to 2 options that fit my needs.

During the check out process I always have the chance to practice my Spanish and perfect a few phrases. As I was paying for my bottles of wine and chatting it up with the friendly staff member, he offers me a glass (by glass i mean plastic cup) of champagne that they are giving tastes of that day.. Since I started off my review by talking about the long week you can only imagine that I quickly said, "Yes!" I enjoyed my cup, noting the brand with plans to purchase it in the future (I've since forgotten it) and left the store smiling with bottles of wine in hand.

Thanks for kicking off the weekend Best Buy!

  5. Best Buy is my go-to liquor/wine store in the neighborhood. It's huge by city standards and offers a large selection of cheap and expensive wine, as well as liquors. The store is always well-organized and clean and it's easy to find what you're looking for with the labeled aisles and helpful staff. They have a bargain area in the front of the store, where you can get two bottles of wine for $10 or $15, depending on which display you choose from. Hard to beat these prices for decent quality wine! They also sell ice here for a buck a bag, as well as a lot of mixers, which makes it an easy one stop shop when you're planning a drinking get together.

What I find to be super unique about this place is how awesome they decorate the store for the holidays. So so so many decorations you can't help but to get into the holiday spirit (Halloween? Thanksgiving? Xmas?) being in there.

Another major pro: you can bring your dog with you while you shop which is great to not have to make a separate trip while you're out on a walk.

  6. Didn't really recognize *anything* in here as far as reds, whites, and even bubbly go. I spent about 15 minutes trying to pick out a bottle for Margot G's parents who were kind enough to lend us their car that evening so I could move the rest of my things out of my old place. I first attempted to find a Spanish Rioja, which is always a pretty safe bet as far as reds go…mmm, nothing recognizable to be found. Well okay, how about a Riesling instead? Again, no brands I recognized. Okay fine, a Prosecco? Ooh, good. One whole brand I recognize.

As far as gambling on wines go, Prosecco is probably the safest type to gamble on. No word on whether it was good or not yet. We didn't finish our move until 12:30 a.m. and were more in the mood for crashing under the covers than toasting with a flute of the bubbly.

Prices clearly range from the dirt poor cheap to "are you kidding me?" expensive.

Oh, and there's a weird smell in here. It sort of intensified the displeasure of spending 15 minutes searching for one bottle of wine.

  7. There's not a single aspect of Best Buy Wine that will let you down. (PS – they have more than just wine!) I have been here quite a few times now, given that it is a very short walk from my school.  They always have discount wines along with higher end wines, the service is always friendly and they are always available to help you find something should you request. They offer discounts if you buy in bulk, and will even deliver to you in the area!

    (Read that last line again!)

When you're entering the store you will come across the 2-for-10$ and 2-for-15$ racks (baller!) where you will find great Argentinian Malbecs, Pinot Noirs, Moscato, Zin and much more.
Deeper into the oasis you'll see more high-end wines such as Ethiopian Honey Wine, and way more (I try to limit my time in this area, just give me the booze!) WAY better priced than some alternatives in the area (such as Wright Wine Store by Tillary/Flatbush.)

They even have vendors come out and do tastings from time to time! (for free)

Send me a thank you message once you stop by. You're welcome.

  8. There are a lot of great boutique wine stores in the neighborhood. Best Buy is not one of them, and yet we go here more than any of the others combined. The selection is great (though not all that well organized and a little overwhelming), the prices are good for the location, and the people are friendly. They even let us take our dog inside.
