Fried chicken here gets an A+. Stuffs addictive. Super crispy. Nice and moist. Oh so oily. Finger lickin good.
Wings are good too. I recommend the blossom or mango habañero, or any of the hot buffalo flavors.
Their biscuits are not biscuits. But theyre awesome. Fluffy pillows of spongy buttery amazingness.
Their tenders are also good. But mind you theyre huge. 4 is plenty for a person.
Don't recommend the buffalo fries or cheese fries. Like the wedges but not drenched in sauce.
Also don't recommend the mac or the tater salad.
Pretty solid wing joint, especially for the midtown area. I'm sure there are better options in New York, but I really can't complain about the convenience and efficiency of Best Wingers. Their buffalo tenders are quite succulent and they have a pretty large array of side options to choose from, as well. Their Mac salad is pretty good, in addition to their potato wedges.
Pretty good bang for your buck. Just make sure they have your order right, especially for takeout. They've messed mine up a few times now!
From the outside, Best Wingers look like your average Chinese fast food restaurant. Actually, the inside looks like one too. But who knew a small place like this serves up some decent bbq meats. Their menu focuses on the basics of bbq, chicken and ribs. However, they choose to opt out of the typical pork ribs and serve huge dinosaur size beef ribs.
Value Meal #4 (14.70 w/ tax)
1/4 BBQ chicken, 2 BBQ beef ribs, 2 biscuits & choice of two side & one soda.
This meal is the only one with ribs. The meat was very tender and the bbq sauce was delicious. However, all ribs require a good spice rub in addition to the sauce and these ribs lacked seasoning.
The bbq chicken consisted of one wing, drumstick, and thigh on the smaller end. The bbq process made the chicken very dry and charred so there was a burnt flavor all around. When ordering sides, opt for the safer choice of the buttery and fluffy biscuits instead of the bland mac and cheese and mash potatoes.
Best Wingers might look like a fast food restaurant but I feel the prices don't reflect that. The selection is a little over priced and there is not much of a selection. But they do have many different ways of combining quantities of each item so it is easy to have a try at everything.
Ive ate here a few times over the years and try different items on there menu. Wings are gigantic! Basket of shrimp is a grease bucket where is the shrimp? Serving portion feeds 2 people. If your gonna eat in there is only 3 bar style round tables that seat 2 each, the place needs some updating very outdated with mirrors on the wall.
I used to work closer and go there more often. My visits have become few, but they are still as enjoyable.
My usual is the #1 meal: chicken wings or tenders (choice of sauce), choice of side, and a drink. I go for the chicken tenders in the terminator bbq sauce and potato salad. The tenders are cooked nicely, juicy, not dry. The terminator bbq sauce is not the hottest sauce; it is second to the exterminator sauce. However, the terminator bbq sauce is hot, but not overpowering with a nice smoky taste. I also tried the blossom sauce (the next down in heat), which is okay. The sauces taste great when dipped in the blue cheese dressing.
The potato salad is pretty basic, but not bad. It is filling and a nice counterbalance to the heat of the chicken.
You have a choice of a variety of canned sodas, or water, to have with the meal.
The cost of the #1 meal is a little over $10. It is comfort food for me, and I've always left this place full and happy.
The place is small, but most of the business is take-out or delivery. I've always found a seat. They recently (well, recently for me, as I hadn't been there in months) added a large flat-screen TV. The guy who was sitting next to it kept hitting the TV as he stood up. Maybe they should lift it a few inches or a foot higher, but the otherwise the tables are fine.
The people who work there have been fine (polite and efficient). I have had to wait sometimes, especially if the place is crowded, but my wait has never been too long, and I can't argue with the results. I've never tried their delivery.
No, the place isn't fancy, but it's a great place to have lunch. I've heard great things about the fried chicken. Maybe one day I'll check it out.
When my coworkers and I are having a long day, we need some comfort food to help us through the day! The very first time I went to pick up my food order, I walked right by it thinking it was a fast food Chinese spot. It is an okay spot for wings fix for lunch.
My coworkers ordered a variety of wings which includes their Buffalo, Garlic Parmesan, Barbecue, and Buttermilk Chicken Tenders. Buffalo sauce was spicy and no joke here. Much cold drinks was needed after. Garlic Parmesan is my favorite sauce here, it is a nice combination of the two flavors. Barbecue was more on the boring side but okay. Buttermilk Chicken Tenders, they were a bit on a hard side and boring but the side sauces make it better. It's decent quality and could be better.
Sides – mashed potatoes, potato wedges, and Spicy Pickles. All were once again pretty decent and goes well with the chicken.
I've been ordering from Best Wingers for years. The wings are pretty standard though I wish they could be more competitively priced. 6 wings for $6.50, 12 wings for $12.95. Shouldn't you be able to save more than 5 cents when placing a larger order?
Wings come with bleu cheese & celery. The celery is always fresh and crisp.
The only variable that pushes me to order from here vs. Atomic or any other place is their garlic parmesan sauce. It's wing sauce with extra garlic and it's so addicting. an extra side of wing sauce is .50 cents. I've mentioned this before in my other reviews before but I really dislike establishments that try to nickle and dime their customers. Is it really necessary to charge that extra .50 cents when loyal, repeat customers are placing regular $20+ orders over the course of years?
Fried Chicken: The first time I had them, it was dry, brittle, overly fried, and really disappointing. But after giving it another shot, they have been consistently good ever since. Chalk up the bad fried chicken to an isolated incident.
For the kind of place that it is, I wish they offered better prices but regardless, the garlic parmesan wings keep me coming back for more. (that, and the fried chicken)
I couldn't believe I just discover this gem in my neighborhood!!! The fried chicken was on point. The mashed potatoes was great. Oh and the moro rice…. yum!
It's a great to-go place. What makes it better is it's soooo cheap!!!
