i love meat but i also like the food here. the price here seems to be higher than what i remember what chelsea market but the portions also feel bigger (at least for the wrap).
Looking for a place to grab something healthy for the evening, was not disappointed. Service is friendly, fast and efficient and the food is light, healthy and tasty. I'm not very agile with sticks but it's prepared in a way that helps even when you take a salad like I did. One salad is definitely sufficient in the evening. The place is rather small and will not fit more than 12 (packed people) but the music is nice and since they do catering or to go, well, you can always find a way. Great find.
Really cool, tiny, vegetarian sushi joint offers some eclectic opportunities to enjoy sushi. At around 7.50 a roll you can sample a couple of options without breaking the bank. They hook you up with 8 pieces an order, and the sushi chef does a mean job, rolling that maki. The sushi comes out quickly, and some options leave me a happy sushi master. With that being said, I would not recommend the Sweet Tree roll, but I would most certainly recommend the Spicy Mang roll.
Fishless sushi?! What kind of abomination is this place?! Answer: a very tasty one.
As a vegetarian, I'm always jealous when I go out for sushi with seafood eaters. They'll get a special roll with all kinds of cool toppings and funky sauces and I'm stuck with…avocado. No offense to avocado rolls, but they get a bit boring after a while.
Beyond Sushi is different. They've got all kinds of unique rolls made with healthy rice, fresh fruits and vegetables, all topped with special sauces and garnishes. A vegetarian sushi lovers paradise!
But you don't need to be veg to appreciate the love they put into their food, anyone can enjoy it! Two of their $6.89 rolls will fill you up, which also makes this place wallet-friendly.
Downside is there's no bathroom and very sparse seating. This one of those uniquely-NYC, hole-in-the-wall restaurants. So pray one of the 3 tables are open, and cross your fingers that you don't get the urge to pee.
Long story short: whether you're veg or not, Beyond Sushi is bomb. Skip the raw fish and try something different for a change. You won't regret it!
5 stars for creativity. I absolutely love this place since they are the only vegan sushi restaurant in the city. This location is on the small side so be warned. There's about 3 small tables, so if you dine in just keep that in mind. The rolls are always fresh, and delicious. I'm really fond of their creativity with the menu. The mango, pickle and mushroom sushi are my faves to date. My only "beef" is that they changed their menu recently and that they got rid of the combos. I was a big fan of the combos, one of the better things they've chopped off the block.
I can't wait to see what they will do in the future! I'm still and will always be a big fan 🙂
Sushi has always been a sore spot for me being vegetarian so this place was really a great concept. I really like that they did this for Asian food. There were deff a few hits and a few misses. For instance we got the mushroom dumplings and those were SO amazing i was still thinking about it while eating the sushi. I would honestly come back here for dumplings over the sushi. We got three rolls. The rolls are filling and worth the price. So out of the mushroom, sunny side up, and spicy mango the best was the spicy mango. I would come back here and recommend to other vegans/vegetarians.
I was actually surprised how good those vegetarian sushis were. We ordered the ones with sweet potatoes and the spice mango and it was really tasty!
The makis were actually a little bit to small and a bit expensive but they tasted reallllllyyyyy good
This place is amazing. I never knew plant based sushi could taste this delicious. I have been to all three locations. This is a quick bite "fast food". Healthy fast food!
