Good standby place to pick up a bottle or two or three! Decent prices, and staff are always willing to lend a hand with advice on what to pick, especially if you're trying to pair your wine with a meal. Strong selection of rose in the summer when we all want to be giant WASPS.
There are good tastings from time to time on not just wine by liquor too, so definitely worth popping by. If you're a G train rider like myself, easy access. I will concur with others that the selection is not huge, but all and all a couple of thumbs of from this guy!
Bibber and Bell is "THE" wine shop in this area! I love popping in here before going to a friend's cat's birthday party or my friend's birthday deck party! The place feels like a meat locker, brrrr, in the best way possible! Especially in NY heat waves.
I popped in with my friend last Saturday. It was so hot we almost made it to the back patio when it hit me that were in the shop's back wine cooling area. The patio also looks gorgeous and I'm hopping they will do wine tastings back there when it cools down. It would be a lovely fall event space.
There are a couple things that draw me to this space. The ROSE all day rack is definitely one of them. Yes, I am a sucker for rose and I'm ok admitting that to the world. The rack has all those nerdy descriptions to help with the notes like almond and huckleberry. Those notes that help the buyer decipher what kinda classy, tasty bottle to devour. If you are in the mood for something dry and fruity or earthy and robust. I have been known to call champagne the woman's forty! There's four glasses in a bottle.
The space is huge and has calming with modern lighting. The wine is divided by region for the most part. I'm always drawn to the France and Argentina but will also go the Spain and Australia route. Yum!
This is the place to get your AbFab* on and pick up your home collection of vino. There is a discount when you buy 6 bottles.
Cheers!

Amazing store, amazing store owner.
Not your average liquor joint. If you really want to take the time to be educated about some fine wines and alcohol, stop in here. The owner was so nice to us and patiently explained his marvelous stock. We ended up leaving with a terrific bottle of whiskey that was finished that evening. Terrific suggestion on the shop owners part.
When I first saw this place, I said in my head "Oh great, a pretentious liquor bar/store…", but I honestly could not have been more wrong. The owner was down to earth and genuinely passionate and knowledgeable about everything in the world of alcohol. Definitely take the time to visit this place.
They have a terrific back yard where the owner says that they hold tastings. Actually think they are having one tomorrow evening! Can't wait to go!
