  1. Well, more like 3.5 stars, but I'll bump Bibi'z up to 4. Came here with my parents and boyfriend for my mom's birthday. Wanted to try something new, and this place came up in a Yelp search (don't tell anyone, but I mostly chose it because it had vegetarian/vegan options clearly marked). The cuisine is New American with a Mediterranean flair.

To summarize: the food is decent, but the menu descriptions need to be reworked; drink menu is diverse and interesting; the service tries really hard, but the time it takes for food to get to the table is pretty long (this doesn't bother me too much personally because I like long dinners); atmosphere is pleasant and contemporary.

When we arrived, like three hostesses greeted us, and one of them took our coats. The vestibule area is also a bar with some more casual seating, and the main dining room is in the back. My parents were running late so the waitress asked us for drink orders, told us about specials (maybe should have waited), and answered questions we had about the menu. Some things marked "V" on the menu, like the wild mushroom ravioli, are not actually vegan. So beware if you have strict dietary restrictions. Also, some dishes that are spicy are not really described as spicy (a shrimp and linguine dish).

My parents finally arrived, and we ordered a bottle of Riesling. The complimentary bread was warm and delicious, but we found out its not house made when the waitress said something like, "Oh this is way better than the bread we were getting last month." Haha I thought that was a weird thing to say.

Well, after being disappointed about the ravioli – the waitress initially told me it was vegan then returned to say it wasn't, breaking my little heart. So I decided to order a pear balsamic salad with a variety of nibbles (tapas style dishes) and split a side with my boyfriend. I got the hummus, stuffed grape leaves, fava bean dip, and a side of braised Brussels sprouts.

My boyfriend ordered a cheese less version of the eggplant Napoleon, my mom got a mint yogurt dip, and the entrees they ordered were the shrimp with linguine and I don't remember what my mom ordered, but she seemed to like it.

My salad was okay, the hummus was EXCELLENT, the fava bean dip was gross and came with a side of guacamole (what?), the stuffed grape leaves were flavorful, and the Brussels sprouts were excellent (but how could you mess those up?). My food came with enough warm pita for the whole table. My mom really liked her dip, and my boyfriend enjoyed his Napoleon. Both my da and boyfriend complained they entrees were spicy, which you couldn't really tell from the menu description.

The waitress was on the verge of over attentive, but I appreciate her effort. I would return to Bibi'z for a special occasion, but I'd really like for them to rewrite the menu descriptions and categories. I love that they have a whole vegan section on the menu, but honestly the two choices seemed a little uninspired and crunchy-hippie style for me. Vegan food doesn't have to be boring, you guys!

  2. The decor and ambiance is great when you walk in. The dining room is also really pretty and bright, which I liked.

For dinner, I had a few dips (spinach & artichoke and the yogurt mint). The spinach artichoke dip was delicious. The yogurt mint was ok, not as good.

I also had some scallops, which were quite good.

For dessert, I ordered the chocolate brownie with coffee ice cream which was decadent and good.

The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. I will most likely be going back.

  3. I had a pretty good meal at Bibi'z.  We came in with a mid-sized party of 6 people on a weeknight and had no trouble getting seated.  Wine was served promptly and our orders came out without a hitch.  Everyone enjoyed their food, but no one raved over it.

I like wine, but my eyes drifted to the beer list right away.  There are 5 craft brews available along with the usual fare.  Most importantly, they have Wolaver's oatmeal stout!  That will always make me happy.

I ordered the fish of they day which was bronzini.   It wasn't the best I've had, but it tasted good.  Nothing really more I can say.  I would come to Bibi'z again but it's just a little too pricey for what I would get.

  4. We went there last night and were very disappointed in the service and that's the reason for the downgrade.

It took such a long time before we got attended to, and we only got attended to after we asked one of the busboys to get our waitress. Her timing all night was very poor. We wanted some raspberry sauce to go with our cheesecake and eventually had to ask a busboy again who had it brought out very promptly by someone other than our waitress. I hope our waitress tipped the busboys because they did her job for her. Finally, even after she brought the check, it took a long time before she came back for it. I have to note however, that slow and inept as she was, she was pleasant. Also, the owner makes her rounds and says hello to everyone which I think is a nice touch…but it does not  mitigate the poor service

A couple got so tired of waiting for our waitress that they left. It's too bad because the food is just as great as I remember …but if something is not done to improve the service, people are not going to come back.

  5. Another good restaurant in Westwood. Went here for dinner with some friends on a Friday night, was surprised there wasn't more people inside. Small bar lounge area when you walk in and tables towards the back. Very clean/trendy place. Service was a little on the slow side so thankfully we were not in a rush. I started off with a beet salad which was one of the specials of the night. It was AMAZING! The goat cheese it was paired with was so creamy and fresh! It was a fairly large portion too. For my meal I went with the chipotle penne and added in shrimp. It was ok. Standard pasta dish with a kick. Shrimp was cooked nicely. But nothing too brag about like the salad. For desert my party shared the desert sampler. My favorite on there was the brownie bites. Yummy Gooey deliciousness!

  6. Pretty inside but everything else is always a half a gene off.

We were 1 of 3 tables there and one of those tables walked out without paying.

Hostess? Weird way to greet people. Almost shocked that customers walked in.

Waitress? Was dressed so comfortable she even had a scarf on.   If she hadn't come over to talk to us I would have guessed she was a patron

Food?  Expensive – I guess you have to make up for the groupons somewhere.

There is a HUGE emphasis on gluten free here.  Not too sure why.   Gluten free people know they can eat salad and tuna.  To need to litter the menu with GF all over.

Taste?  My 4 scallops for $32 were ok but the Brussel sprouts and mushroom were unbearably salty.

My dinner companion had the mahi and complained of the same.

I had a fig drink that was DELISH

All and all this  was my 2nd time here and I can't say id come back for anything other than a drink and maybe some GLUTEN FREE olives.

  7. Last night marked the 2nd time we have come here.  The reviews are all over the map.   Our party of 8 had the same mixed reaction.  I was a bit perturbed by the unrefined professionalism of the wait staff.  There seems to be enough people working, but they surely  lack efficiency.

I think they have the vision, but can't back it up.  Their food presentation sorely lacking.  Meat seems to be their specialty.

At this point, it's hard to see ourselves as frequent patrons.

  8. *chopped salad (nothing special; vinaigrette was decent and the pita chips were not necessary)
*organic quiche (this was sooo weird!!! There was I believe asparagus and sundried tomatoes in there with a  lot of thick cheese all cooked into a crust; the cheese was dried and crusty; there was an assload of sundried tomatoes and that crust tasted store-bought/frozen. This did not taste fresh and I could not eat more than a quarter of this quiche. Definitely not recommended)
*cauli fries (yum! this was definitely the best thing I ate at this place; not overly fried and the seasoning was great; the dip was so good and I believe it was mayo-based. you wouldn't even know this was cauliflower)

This place is quite cute inside. We reserved space for a bridal shower here. The semi-private room is definitely spacious enough for the entire party and an extra table for gifts/setup/decor. The service was good. Food was alright. I wasn't impressed but maybe it was just what I ordered. It's alright, not a place I'd recommend.
