I live in town and I usually try places out that I hear of by word of mouth. Not sure why I haven't heard about this place. I mean, I know they were there, but what can you do?
Sunday before the big Christmas festivities so I figured it was going to be a busy night or a slow night for them. I placed a phone order for two pies, their garlic knot sliders (which I was intrigued by on their menu) and a rice ball. I was told 25 minutes (about right) and the phone person was very friendly.
Arrived a bit after my window because I was side tracked with Christmas cheer and I paid, got handed a few bags and boxes along with a punch card for future orders and I was on my way. The staff seemed to be friendly as well.
When I got home I was a bit surprised but in a good way. Let me take you back to the old days when we were kids and had pizza night. Two big slices hanging over the plate and getting yelled at not to drip the grease everywhere (for the record, I don't blot my pizza…ever!). This pie reminded me of just that. I have never seen in our local area a pizza slice this big before. I get this triangular piece the fits neatly on the plate and looks depressing. However this place, you get what you pay for. One of the pies had sausage on it and I will say, I'm always a fan of places that do bulk sausage as opposed to slicing it and throwing it on. So I was definitely excited.
After experiencing that, I wasn't even interested in anything else. However, the sliders were interesting, I was a bit skeptical because I know garlic knots can be very tricky. You get three knots as an appetizer and you can pick from a selection. We ended up getting meatball and the chicken parm. Let me tell you, they're on to something there. It's perfect because you don't have to get a whole meatball parm sub and an order of garlic knots. You get a little from column A, a little from column B and it comes out a bit cheaper in the end. I was definitely impressed.
Over all, I will be back. I also have to see how the leftover pizza stacks up to the usual day old out of the fridge test.
