If you're driving too fast you might just miss it! So I'm actually glad that Kearny Ave is filled with traffic lights and marked as a 25mph zone or I might have never stumbled upon this place!
This hole in the wall sub shop never disappoints. Try the pastrami (hot) with swiss and caramalized onions.
Also their roast beef with everything on it hits the spot!
Bread is fresh and tasty.
Call ahead just in case it's busy.
There's not much room to sit and eat but there are a couple of spots to snag.
Great sandwiches . This place has been here forever. Big sandwiches never cheap out on the meat. Never need to go to another sub place when your around here. Highly recommend
My wife surprised me with 2 6-foot subs from Big Stash's for my birthday and I couldn't be any happier! We've never had subs from here before but I'm sure glad she checked Yelp before picking a place to order from. We got one belly buster and one roast beef and everyone greatly enjoyed both, with the belly buster being the fan favorite. The subs were enormous and the meat and toppings were plentiful. Also, the guy behind the counter was extremely nice and courteous; thank you!!

The belly buster is wonderful without question. The meatball also good. The folks here are awesome.
The quality and amount of meats you get in a sandwich are worth every penny.
Cash only though!
There is a chase ATM down the street
I first visited and ordered from Big Stash's when I first moved to Kearny back in 1995. I've since moved away but only two things keep me coming back to my old town of residence and that's my barber and Big Stash's! Why I haven't written a review sooner can only be laziness, as this is the best sub sandwich I have ever had in my life! Now that may mean many things to many people but bear in mind that my nickname is "Tony Cold Cuts!!" I love sub sandwiches. The are one of my favorite foods. So when I think of the ultimate sub sandwich, I think of heading down to Big Stash's Sub House in Kearny! My favorite is the Ham & Yellow American Cheese with extra mayo! Delicious!
If you are ever in the Kearny area be sure to check this place out. An excellent sub shop that places like Subway and Quiznos cannot hold a candle to. The subs are always fresh and packed with meat. Purists insist you have to have one with a Clinton's Iced Tea. Coming from North Jersey I know this is heresy but they I always thought Clinton's tasted like dishwater but if you have never had one, try one and judge for yourself.
BTW – if you are a Sopranos fan, the location of the infamous Satriales is right down the block, it is a parking lot now but you will still recognize a lot of the surrounding buildings.
When X Ray Burns of WFMU frequents a sandwich shop and endorses it, you had better believe it is the best. Huge fresh sub sandwiches served on amazing wide soft italian loaves stacked with quality meats, cheeses and a small variety of fresh veggie topings. Small is big enough for a fatass and the large will last you a day.
I shared two large subs with my brother: the "Belly Buster" Italian sub, and the hot pastrami and cheese, we ate half a sub each, shared them and still had food leftover for a midnight snack and a 1/4 each the next day for brunch.
The meats, cheeses and bread were so high quality, I may never step in to a Subway again, its blasphemy once youve had a REAL SUB at Stash's.
This place is worth the trip from Bloomfield.
I grew up around the corner and I'm afraid to think of how many subs (and Clinton's iced teas) I ordered from Big Stash's back in the day. And a lot of people turned their backs on Stash's when American Hero opened in Lyndhurst which never made any sense to me. I'm a fan of both places but my heart will always belong to Stash's.
(How can you not love a place that has a fake autographed picture of Scott Baio hanging in their store?!)
