Coffee is decent (avg in class). Nice environment that seems conducive to work. Croissant and scone were ok.
My personal experience this time was below avg this time. All sandwiches were unavailable and services was below par. When I asked for the WiFI password (only question I asked the staff), I was bluntly told that they don't give it on weekend and the service staff gave me a surprisingly annoyed look. Don't think of myself as sensitive but I was a bit surprised and put off – especially since I could see at least three folks on their laptops using Facebook! 😉
With that said, spot looks like a decent place to work. There are even 2 private work desks (near washroom) where one can work in relative peace. Spot us nicely equipped w outlets and work lamps! As a result, I suspect my experience was a (negative) outlier.
Good coffee, certainly among the best in the Upper West Side. A great spot to get some work done, especially if you're lucky enough to snag one of the individual study cubbies.
Now, I know many coffee shops in New York want to put the coffee at the forefront and therefore don't have wi-fi or outlets. Birch has wi-fi so I guess I should count my blessings, but they give you a little code that's only good for a single hour of use. Seems sort of ridiculous to me, and I'm not sure what they're getting out of that. "Only an hour for you, and then it's back to strictly coffee-drinking, young man!" Not altogether terrible. If you're spending multiple hours in a coffee shop on your laptop, you're…well, you're like me. But hey, whatever.
Again, great drinks. Excellent chai. Drip coffee's tops, too. Worth checking out.
Very cute coffee shop! I stopped by while in NYC to grab a cappuccino and an almond croissant. Very great customer service at this location. Most importantly, there's a very decent space for who likes to do work on their lap tops or read. Highly recommend.
Popped in for a refreshment on my way up to Lolo's in Harlem. A welcome break from the heat of the day as I had walked up from Chelsea. The restroom was clean, and I just had a can of flavored seltzer which was very delicious (raspberry lime!). The girl behind the counter was nice and helpful when I asked about what kinds of iced tea they had. If I lived in the area I would definitely come here for my morning joe fix! Great energy; lovely ambiance.
This is my favorite coffee shop in UWS along with Irving Farm. Their americano and iced coffee are delicious and the baked goods are pretty solid although they do not have a wide variety (my favorite is their scones!). They give you free wi-fi that last for 2 hours with every purchase. The noise level isn't as high as other cafes, which makes it a great studying spot. While there aren't that many tables, I never had problem finding a seat even during lunch times and weekends. I highly recommend it to any coffee-addict looking for a great environment to work or chat with friends in the neighborhood.
This is pretty decent coffee. I didn't love it. I got a hemp milk latte (they don't have almond milk, I'm assuming to be more environmentally friendly). The latte was made fairly well. It wasn't smooth upon the first sip as I would expect a latte to be, but it grew on me. It was a very expensive latte.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the UWS, delicious coffee and tea selections, great space, and friendly staff. There's a reason why it's almost always usually packed on weekends.
First off, drip coffee is excellent! My soy cappuccinos are always done right, and the prices are reasonable. I love the set up in this cafe, plenty of seating and nooks to get you ready for some work or relaxation. They have some literature on the back wall near the baristas, so your in luck if you don't have a book in hand.
The space is brightly lit, clean and comfortable. It feels like home without the distraction (yes my pup is the cutest, but she won't let me work). The only thing missing now are somevegan treats, keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks birch for quenching my caffeine induced thirst.
This is the kind of coffee place I don't want to tell my friends about because it's SO good and I want to keep it ALL to myself. The space is charming, lots of seats, free wi-fi, and dapper dressed baristas. The decor sets the perfect ambiance to write, read, or meet a good friend. I'm obsessed with their chai lattes (iced or hot). I haven't tried the food yet but I've seen photos of it and it looks mouth-watering. If I wasn't fairly low in funds at the moment I would find myself there every day!
