Bistro New York
“Try the breakfast burritos; they are terrific (I like mine with egg whites, spinach, tomato, and peppers on a spinach wrap).”
“The soups are $5 for the large one with a free piece of bread – before you order a soup, you can ask for a taste and they're always super nice about it.”
“Let's make it exciting and add apples, mangos, pasta salad, asparagus, and various nuts.”

I'm feeling a little under the weather, so I kept it simple today. My three-star breakdown:
Delivery – Pretty speedy. I placed an order at 11:30am and it arrived promptly at 12:30pm.
Chicken Vegetable & Pasta Soup – The ingredients were fresh, but I wish I got more of those ingredients in my soup. I only counted six pieces of chicken. A little lighter on the sodium would also be great.
Egg White Omelette – In addition to my soup, I customized an omelette with ham, peppers, and swiss cheese. Slightly overcooked, but nothing ketchup can't fix.
The salad craze in Midtown is practically as unreal as it gets. Any gourmet deli or quick-one-stop-lunch place likely has a section for building your own salad. Each one has its own pricing too, with upcharges for protein, certain vegetables, and even arugula (seriously?!). A really good salad with what you actually want will cost you a pretty penny.
Now, a salad where you can choose what you actually want and not skimp out? And for less than $10? Now, that's when you go to Bistro. You may miss it, but you won't miss the line that surrounds this salad joint.
Luckily, the line moves quick, unlike those gourmet deli's, which has only a few people working the salad bar, practically half the place is devoted solely to salad (because everyone is getting salad!) – and not to mention that they are super quick too. Now, once you're up to the point where you can choose your green, choose your green! I guarantee you that a medium 32 oz. size will suit you well because guess what my friend – it's one meat, one cheese, and unlimited veggies. You might groan, unlimited veggies? Well veggies include more than your plain carrot, tomato, and cucumber. Let's make it exciting and add apples, mangos, pasta salad, asparagus, and various nuts. Now, are you sold? Choose your dressing, chop or mix, and you're all set. And I guarantee you, it will come out to less than $10.
Got their lunch special for lunch. Soup and half a sandwich for less than 8$ definitely a good bargain!
The pea soup was fresh and arrived hot which I don't take for granted at all, having ordered from several places that always bring it cold!
The half tuna salad sandwich was good the veggies wasn't that fresh but the overall quality was ok.
I would order from them again for sure!
After dealing with mobs of people at nearby Delmonico for a solid week, I decided to give the less insane Bistro New York a shot. The store is small for this kind of deli/restaurant but it has a nice open space with counters on either side serving different types of food.
This morning, I ordered an omelette with onions. These guys were very cool with my particular request (one whole egg with two egg whites) and super friendly, something I really appreciated early in the morning.
The omelette was good, though i did have to add some hot sauce to make it truly awesome. The service was snappy and the place looked clean and organized. I'm planning on a return visit soon!
super convenient spot for lunch if you work around the area in midtown. Staff is pretty friendly and I usually like to get their mini salad when I'm not too hungry. It's a good size if you're looking for something light. The price is a little less than $4 so I think it's a pretty good deal, at least cheap in midtown. You can put 3 toppings on your salad, sometimes they give you more without charging extra on a good day. If you get the regular size I think it's unlimited for the toppings.
