  1. I came here twice using Groupon vouchers and i must say, if it wasnt so far from me, this place would be a regular spot for me. Both times we had the sea scallops as an appetizer.

Sea scallops were cooked to perfection.. moist and tender. Everything from the shiitake mushrooms, the peas and the potato rosti made this my favorite appetizer. As a second appetizer ham & poached egg salad with a dijon vinegarette. Delicious! All the components of the salad came very well together.

For entree, my boyfriend For the skirt steak and i had the ragout in appetizer size. The skirt steak was huge in portion and juicy! Unfortunately it did not come out medium rare like we asked and came out medium well. The steak was unevenly cooked. Some parts of the steak was medium, and some was well. Ragout was delicious. My favorite dish in the restaurant and i love that they offer different sizes.

What i wasn't a big fan of in this restaurant is the seating.. i came here twice,  maybe a year apart and was always seated in a tiny table where i can bump elbows with people beside me… when the rest of the restaurant is empty. When i was being seated by my waiter, there was water glasses from the tables next to us and jackets on the chair. It was very awkward asking the other guest to move their stuff. Waiter just walked away even though he noticed it too.

Food is outstanding but dining experience is not as amazing.

  2. I have dined here once before, during the Summer time. They had tables and chairs outside, and since it was a nice weather, we sat outside. It was really nice. This time, we sat in the inside. They have an open coat closet right at the entrance, so if you don't mind leaving your coats there, you can hang it there instead of taking it to your table. We took advantage of their coat closet so that we didn't have to carry heavy coats to our table.

It seemed like they have two dining room, and I think they were only using one of the dining room as they were not so busy. Since their weekend brunch ends at 3pm, and we got there around 1pm, people were finishing up and leaving. They also had nice bar area. They didn't pack the space with too many tables or chairs, which was nice, so that we had enough time to walk around, and didn't feel like people were on top of each other like at some other NYC restaurants.

We ordered pancakes, mussels, and some desserts. Everything was really tasty and we enjoyed it a lot. Our waitress was really nice and sweet, and she took care of us with a nice smile. Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

  3. The food here is awesome and delicious, and the drinks are spectacular. Blood Orange Mojitos- yum.

The seared tuna appetizer was delightful. The beet-filled ravioli was also delicious. The sweet potato-pecan tart for dessert hit the spot. So in terms of flavor and quality and execution, spot on – the plates were beautiful and I wanted more.

Ambiance is lovely and romantic, but also comfortable for chatting the night away with friends. Service was friendly.

The only issue I have is the portion size vs. price ratio. The restaurant is pretty expensive, and at comparable restaurants I usually get a bit more food for these prices. The ravioli for example (the lunch portion), was two medium-sized ravioli on a plate for $15. Looking around it seemed like most plates were small.

At the end of the day, the food was just so spectacular I think I will go back, but if you're very hungry one entree portion is probably not going to fill you up.

  4. While the food here is hit or miss, I keep coming back for the great outdoor seating with the best view in Manhattan. You're basically across the street from the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine.

I've been here for lunch, brunch and dinner. Brunch is the best. The Eggs Benedict, Cinnamon Challah French Toast, Corned Beef Hash (my favorite), Banana Walnut Pancakes and Mushroom Omelet are all superb. Be sure to try the side of Macaroni & Cheese and Brussels Sprouts (if you still have room!). For just $12.50 on top of your entrée, you can get a great Bloody Mary or a rather strong Mimosa.

If breakfast food isn't your thing, they have a VERY good Sirloin Burger and Prince Edward Island Mussels (the best is the Classic: white wine, butter, garlic, shallot and herbs).

Be sure to make a reservation for brunch, but note that they DO NOT allow reservations for outdoor dining. That is first come, first served.

You won't regret an afternoon spent here.

  5. Just a normal American restaurant and nothing special.  We had a quick lunch here and it was fine.  I got the clam chowder and it tasted just as it should.  My friend had a salmon burger and it was fine.  No need to come out of your way for this place but it's not terrible if you happen to be right in front of it.

  6. I had walked by this place a million times and did not realize the splendor inside!  The weather was perfect so we got to sit outside and enjoy our delicious dinner.  For starters, we ordered a "caprese-style" salad that was fresh and tasty.  That was coupled with a tasty meat selection. For the main course, we had the skirt steak, which was tender, juicy, and way too big for me to finish!  I'll definitely come back to try their brunch!

  7. Came here for brunch over the weekend with my cousin and a friend because I had a voucher for 2 entrees and an appetizer.

The outdoor dining area is a little smaller than expected, but it is right across a Cathedral and has a pretty nice view, so I can't complain too much. I had the
Fettuccine with Chorizo and Shellfish Beurre and I was disappointed with the small portion; the mussels were extremely tiny and there were only a few pieces of seafood. Taste-wise, it was not terrible but the sausage pieces didn't make this as enjoyable. My cousin and friend were also not too thrilled about their meals, but neither disappointed. The Corned Beef Hash was actually smaller than it was and it didn't seem to be worth the $15 it costs.

Something I immediately noticed was that there was something ashy on the tip of my water glass, and long and behold, it was powdery when I tried to rub it off. I couldn't believe our server didn't care to notice this at all. Service was okay; wasn't thoroughly attentive, even though it was almost empty. Brunch can be done better elsewhere.

  8. great atmosphere.  the bailey's hot chocolate is not as awesome as the one at le monde.  but it was served with a warm smile which i appreciated.  and it tasted yummy.
the food was good.  we had the fried goat cheese croquettes…yum! my friend had the mussels and i had the beet salad.  the mussels looked awesome and the sauce was tasty.  the beet salad as the server said was lots of beats.  was good.

the service was stellar. on a busy night.
