  1. Charming little shop in Williamsburg that makes a good cup of coffee!

Really adore the space itself – I'm a sucker for exposed brick, and love the dark grained wood that's used throughout the space and ceiling. The place is also furnished with vintage pieces, like the retro refrigerator and the old school typewriter. Decent amount of seating, and the free wifi makes the place conducive to reading or getting some work done. Baristas are friendly, and they accept CC which is always a plus. Oh, and they brew Stumptown here and make great drinks.

The staff, space, and clientele just ooze a coolness and a Bohemian vibe that seems a bit more homey than the more sterile/newer coffee shops in the area (e.g. Blue Bottle, Toby's Estate, Devoción – not to say I don't love those places). This place is definitely one of my faves whenever I'm in the area!

  2. Cash only!!! Place is super amazing! Inside is dark but cozy and the patio they have outside is super super nice! Decor is country vintage plenty of cactus.
I had iced mocha and it was good. Iced tea is unsweetened so very healthy!
I would give 4 stars but I think that service could be better. You only interact to order, but the girl behind the counter isn't nice.

  3. **CASH ONLY**

After a huge fail at The Bagel Shop (ugh), I needed coffee, stat.  My handy dandy Yelp app led me to Black Brick.  The interior is dark, woody, and very rustic.  If you look up, you'll see the ceiling is covered in old crates.  Lots of exposed brick and vintage furniture.  You'll feel like you're not even in NYC anymore!

Looks like they serve Stumptown coffee here.  My coffee was fresh and strong, but smooth.  Service was great and prices are very reasonable for Williamsburg.  My $2 coffee could have cost more, given the area.

    Service was good.

Not much else to say about this place – good stop for a coffee and donuts from Dough if you want!  Not sure I would spend an entire day chilling here – it's a bit too dark for my liking.

  4. Do you know what I love? Reclaimed Brooklyn wood. It gives me wood! haha

What does this have to do with coffee? I dunno, but when I see reclaimed wood, Stumptown beans and awesome baked goods makes me all squishy inside.

I walk into a nice looking store. Reclaimed stuff is happening, very very hip here in Black Brick Brooklyn.

I see a register with a hand written sign, *cash only*. I ordered a Cortado and start asking about the different cookies. There are some outrageous items on display. I choose a cookie and ask if American Express is ok. The counter person looks at me like I had 3 heads, I tell her I'm kidding. I grab my Cortado and I'm on my way.

This place is very small so the outdoor patio in a few weeks won't be a viable option.
    Cheers!

  5. Excellent coffee!! I loved it. Iced decaf americano with almond milk to celebrate the spring in Williamsburg. I wish they had the garden open!
It's a very nice place, very hipster and very cool. Everything with industrial and wood decor makes it cozy like home. They even have a couch with a coffee table that you can sit and relax while you read or send emails.
It's a perfect place for a coffee-shop-office because they have wifi and a place to sit on the back so no one is taking the place of the coffee drinkers at the front.
Is not inexpensive but they don't kill you either. Almond milk is 50 cents more but I don't quite like when they charge you more for the ice! That's my missing star…
    A place to come back!

  6. I'm not often faced with the dilemma of going to a place, giving it 5 stars, and upon additional visits deciding that 5 is not enough. I guess all I can say is read my first review…now add an incredible patio.

  7. Williamsburg has its fair share of trendy coffee shops, and I like how Black Brick doesn't try to be too cool for school. Their menu is pretty straightforward, and their decor is dark and warm, with mismatched furniture that reminds me of a modern day Central Perk.

The Stumptown coffee is reliably tasty, but I typically go for the tea. I try NOT to go for the delicious Dough donuts they always have displayed in their case, but typically I fail and end up with one of those fluffy concoctions as well.

Though I enjoy working here, I appreciate that there are certain laptop free zones, to encourage conversation and interaction with the real world. The baristas also make an effort to make conversation and take it further than your typical coffee purchasing interaction, and they seem to have quite a few regulars, which is always a good thing. And – free wifi! In the age of phone tethering it may not seem like quite a luxury anymore but it's a nice touch.

My only complaint is, unfortunately, their cash only policy. In the age of Square I don't know why any business would insist on cash only, and I'd be a much more frequent customer if I could use a credit card when I'm cash free but donut hungry!

  8. I spent a few days in Williamsburgh just to check it out and hang, from NorCal. I was never disappointed here. In fact, I went in every am and replicated my usual home routine; I'd read the paper, get a cappuccino, then another and then a latte. They're very consistent and very good. Great, indie atmosphere to boot.
