Black Market

“BLK MKT also had a mini-menu of snacks like sliders and french-fries, all of which looked delicious.”

“Ever since i saw "Meatmen" i have wanted a Pat LaFrieda burger.”

“They create a perfect sized patty of Pat LeFrieda blend (my first time, exciting!), sprinkle on a generous helping of sea salt and then broil it using, I'd go with, an entire stick of butter.”

  1. Seems like quite a few places in EV claim to be the best burger in the city, and this is another of those places. I had the burger, and it was pretty damn good! Simple cheeseburger, all about the meat and no frills, and you could really taste the flavor. We also had a dozen of the 1$ oysters for happy hour, and these were really good as well, not the cheap oysters you sometimes get at other oyster happy hours. Great for happy hour, will definitely come back for more.

  2. I came here for burgers and drinks on a Saturday night and was not disappointed!  Burgers were nice sized but I probably could have gone for the double meat patty one!  I had an old fashioned and it was delicious, although the glass was tiny.

Service was great and the music was very enjoyable.  Cool place.

  3. I dont know what the fuss is about this place. Its just mediocre food. I think the food needs salt. The service is good but the menu needs to be revamped. Oh and you leave there smelling like you worked in a kitchen.

  4. Happy Hour during the week 5-7pm.

Came here for dinner last night.

    Service: Awesome, friendly, fast service

Ambience: Very cute, dark and smoky, sexy/hipster

Food: I had the burger –yummmmmmmm! Great cheese selection, awesome salad, nice fat juicy burger.

Friends had the veggie burger -good but very breaded.

    Great drinks.

  5. Okay I really like this spot; it was really was relaxing and the drinks were perfect for a Thursday since I'm back to work on Friday (No black outs).

The burger was cooked to perfection!!!
FYI I'm obsessed with burgers and fries!!!!

The ambiance was awesome and relaxed!!!

Like the terminator "I'll be back".

  6. I came in here one night after work solo. I ordered a burger and a blue moon. The staff is just okay, not super friendly or anything. It is kind of dark in there, and the night I went they had the front door open so it was particularly hot in the front area and just only a little bit cooler in the back. It wasn't that busy so the food came out relatively quickly. The burger didn't blow my mind. It was good but not really worth it cost wise. I agree with another reviewer saying that there are SO many more places a few steps away that are 4-5stars. Go there instead. If you are looking for a happy hour with oyster that is similar to what blk mkt offers, try Upstate, Mermaid Inn, or Prima all within a 5 min walk from here.

  7. ((SPOILER ALERT)) unfortunately no illegal goods or services are sold here. false advertising!
FORTUNATELY: Black Market slings great burgers and draaaanks, err cocktails.

Appetizers: Do the black market devilled eggs. pricey but worth it. caviaaaaaaar on eggs. egg squared.

Do not do the Kale chips w/ parm and lemon…why? it tastes good, but you could make loads of this at home to your heart's content: do not reward a place bamboozling you outta $7 for "KALE"–fail!

Main Eats: Do the single or double cheeseburger with cheddar. They plates both come with fries. The double obviously is HULKED up with an extra patty. the patties are from Pat LaFrieda, which means nothing to me (bc Pat LaFailia outpost at LaGuardia airport serves crappy burgers)..but whoever is cooking these patties at Black Market knows their shizzz bc i get consistently delicious oozing medium-rare perfectly cooked burgahs w/ cheese at Black Market. You can add bacon, avocado, or an egg for $3…which seems pretty pricy since you are you're not getting a heap of bacon. so a Black Market double burger with bacon will RUN YOU OVER 21 bucks without tax and tip, but though this burger will hurt your wallet like a hit-n-run…the pain$ are worth it. Do not order Veggie Black Market Burger. it tastes fine to me–or spectacular to vegans and vegetarian. anything called a "burger" that contains quinoa, corn, cauliflower, beets, and endless list of vegetables should be served one way…served into the garbage AND you order an actual burger (MEAT). this veggie "sandwich" on a roll does its job for vegesauruses…it fills green-eaters' respective bellies and makes them poop regularly. 80

Do order the grilled cheese with tomato soup during the winter. if you can't figure this one out, your mom failed you or hates you–or BOTH! warm cheesey goodness with tang creaminess of tomato soup. plus you get a heap of fries.

Draaaanks: handful of choices of drafts and bottled beer–nothing that is amazing, just a solid list of choices. my go-to cocktails here are Old Fashioned and Green Door. the cocktails are well-conceived. however some are a tad sweet for me, so consult your waitress or the bartender.

staff here is fine. some are hit. some are miss. service tends to hinge on how slammed the bar and grill are. best not to give the staff here grief, bc they don't care, nor should they…just be patient. it all will come together. have faith. i will say the staff doesn't know how to stack orders…so if you order apps and burgers and drinks…they will tend to all come at once and your tiny table will not comply to holding so much stuff at once bc the two-top tables are small which is somewhat annoying.

the ambience is somewhat dark–snapchatter and instagrammers ready your flashes. the decor is simple casual and classy. relaxed. Black Market works best for dates, casual dinners with friends and family…and birthday dinners (if you make reservations for groups). the bar/eatery is pretty versatile. that said the music here can be loud…so date night might not be a great idea, unless you prefer not to hear what your datee is saying…which is possible. ha

drops mic because the burgers here are two-hand monsters.
    i out.
    zzzz

  8. I absolutely love Black Market.  Great burgers, fun people watching and a great DJ on Saturday nights.
