Magnificent, glorious burgers. Lots of variations. I had a basic with lettuce tomato onions and it satisfied my craving of the best NJ burger. Laced it with a plate of properly salted crispy curly fries and it's just a heavenly meal. Wife had portobello mushroom vegan option (preferred over quinoa kale). Just remember to say no cheese (almost all come with cheese). Not fancy, just great ingredients (Pat KaFrieda patties) and fresh, marvelous buns. Plenty of seats in this small but fun place. Everything is cooked to order so it's a 10-minute wait. Parking outside. Run don't walk here if you have a hankering for great burgers.
Stopped in on a Friday night for a quick bite. We ordered the Aristocrate burger and the Philly Burger. The Aristocrate, was advertised to have sauteed onions, but it actually came with fried frizzled onions, not that big of deal, but, I was really looking forward to sautéed onions! The burger itself was well cooked, lean and not to fatty! My husband thought the Philly burger was pretty good, needed a little salt, but all in all, decent.
The location itself, isn't anything to write home about. I don't think they changed much, from the previous restaurant that was in this location. A few tables, a few parking spots in the back, which is nice, because parking in that area isn't easy! Prices are crazy high! We spent $30 on two burgers, a fry and two drinks. Burgers range between $7.50 and $9.50. Personally I think $9.50 is a little much for a burger, but, they are a decent size.
Enjoy!

Came here since I had no idea the other BRB was closed. Got here at 9:40pm, the sign said they were open until 10pm and the place was CLOSED! I was so ready to introduce my friend to this awesome food!
After a night of drinking, we came here for an early lunch on a Sunday. The combinations of toppings sounded incredible, and I was starving. The shop was pretty small, but it had its own parking lot which was convenient. Order at the counter and they'll bring your order to your table.
I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheeseburger with pulled pork, but according to the staff they unfortunately no longer offer pulled pork as a topping. This would have been very nice to know before my burger came out and I had to question why it did not have pulled pork.
All the burgers we ordered were extremely photogenic, but I found the flavor of my burger to be extremely underwhelming, especially for it's price point. They use a Pat La Frieda blend of beef for their burgers, so the beef quality is good. But the toppings on my burger didn't leave much of an impression. The bacon was kinda bland, the cheddar wasn't very sharp, and I feel like a burger needs onion more than it needs lettuce and tomato. I tried the whiskey, bacon, BBQ, and mac n cheese burgers as well. The whiskey bacon bbq had more flavor thanks to the BBQ sauce, but the mac n cheese was decidedly not very cheesy. The scratch baked buns all of them were served on were a little sweet I think, kinda like a croissant, but good.
We also ordered mesquite fries and pickle fries as sides. Mesquite fries are coated in a seasoning like the kind you find in BBQ flavored potato chips. The pickle fries were good, but I still prefer pickle chips. The food here was solid, but not special.
Disappointed is all I can say, while Yelping I come across a new place in Hackensack NJ, with a cool name, Black Rebel Burger. The Yelp photos of Frankenstein or Lobster Mac and Cheese burger where crazy but cool not that I wanted to try them but get a normal burger.
But is Black Rebel creative with the taste of their burgers or just gimmicky, I needed to find out.
I drove from Rutherford to Hackensack and the parking space in the back is shared with 2 other joints and was full with only about eight to ten cars. So I parked a block away and walk in, The nice and friendly counter girl took my order after I took a quick look at the menu, Philly Cheesesteak. Fries and some Mac and Cheese to go, I just wanted the basics something simple, if you can't get this right the how do you suppose to make some of the other wild burger like the Pastrami, Pickle, Fries and Onion burger.
As I waited only one other customer came in and the place was empty with about 20 tables on a Sunday afternoon with Hackensack Medical Center and University across the street. I got my food and out I go but I'm not done yet, since I'm in Hackensack I should hit my main NJ bakery while I'm here, so I munch on the fries as I drive which need some salt but were good while hot.
I ended up going to two other spots one of which was Filipino before going home with more food in the car. I going to need to back on track on doing some running to get rid of all the calories I'm taking in. especially since I'm doing the 3K J P Morgan Challenge in to weeks, man am I out of shape, but a Yelper as to do what a Yelper has to do, and that's eat.
Well I plate my Philly Cheesesteak, Fries and Mac and Cheese after re-heating them. My fries lost something in texture after cooling off like if they got denser or something. On my Philly Cheesesteak he bottom bun was greasy and soggy but the top was still good so I use the top to double up the Philly Cheesesteak. It was a thin layer of very thin steak and a little bit of cheese like just one slice. There was nothing special about the Philly Cheesesteak I guess because they were skimpy on the main ingredients, steak and cheese. I then started to think that those picture of monster burgers were posted by Black Rebel and maybe they supped them up and that is not what you going to get when you order them?
I had the day before an Arby's Philly Cheesesteak with onions and peppers and it was much better expect for the bun and costed less than Black Rebel. The mac and cheese was bland and could use more cheese also, I didn't bother to finish it. Like I said in the beginning, Disappointed.
While the food was pretty good and the burger inclusions unique this place is clearly going through some growing pains. We waited over 30 minutes for our burgers, fries and two shakes on a Friday during lunch. I understand that this is probably the biggest rush of the week but as a new establishment I would expect them to at least be fully staffed or have a second chef on for the afternoon.
Our burgers did not all come out at once, I had to ask twice for a cup for the ketchup which actually tasted bad and they completely forgot about our milkshakes. I will be returning because I did enjoy my meal and I feel that they deserve a second chance.
Pretty much the same as the other location. Good, quality food and unique combinations. More seating than the original location, and they have a small lot here for parking. He had a a Black Rebel Burger which he said was good, just slightly smaller than the original location. I tried the shrimp, crab and avocado salad with a lemon aioli. The crab was great, shrimps could have been bigger. The lemon aioli was light and tasty. Little disappointed it was these ingredients on a bed of 3 pieces of lettuce as opposed to what I thought would be more of a salad with a lot of cut up lettuce. Overall, a good experience, worthy of a stop because it was a cheat day.
