I wandered in on a rainy morning and had the everything bagel with smoked salmon with tobiko cream cheese and butter lettuce. I originally wanted a whole wheat everything bagel, but it was sold out. I felt like it was way too early for bagels to be sold out. The bagel itself was dense and not doughy or soft like the bagels I am accustomed to. Now I know I'm not a fan of Montreal style bagels. I like my bagels big and soft. These bagels were super tiny. I feel that the bagel itself would've been better if it was toasted, but I was not offered this option. The combination I chose was one of their specials and I must say together it is a great sandwich. However, I feel that ingredients should be of superb quality on its own. The smoked salmon was a little skimp as was the tobiko cream cheese. The tobiko cream cheese is actually super tasty. I wish there was enough tobiko to feel the pop as I was eating it though. It didn't feel like I was eating tobiko. I really wish they gave me more of this because this was the star of the entire sandwich. The butter lettuce added a nice crunch element. This was a one time thing for me due to the price and lackluster effect it had on me. However, never say never lol. If I were to come back I would get the tobiko cream cheese only.
I also got an iced Americano which was terribly watery.
A bit disappointed. Ordered multigrain everything bagel with veggie cream cheese which is my go to for bagels. A relatively small bagel came out at around $3,50. And… Is just did not taste anything! Boring bagel and boring cream cheese (with only carrots and scallions??).
I love a good bagel, but this one just is… Meh.
The smallest most delicious gourmet everything bagel with veggie cream cheese that I have ever had.
So good and expensive, I'll be going back tomorrow for their even more expensive #18
Counter service was exceptional and on point in the early AM.
*****update***** my second what I expected to be even more expensive visit was just that. Holy crap, and it was even MORE expensive than the more I was already expecting it to be.
1 Bacon, egg, cheese + 1 bagel with cream cheese, tomato, bacon + 1 tiny oj = $25.06
Must-do breakfast stop.
I was wandering NoLiTa, after stepping out of my hotel on Bowery, looking for somewhere great and quick for breakfast.
A quick browse of Yelp, and stumbled on this place. Needless to say, if it wasn't my last morning in New York – i'd have come back.
My bagel, #12 (Wood Fired Baked Eggs (over medium), Cheddar, Bacon) was just tasty. The eggs were perfect, cheese gently melted but not too much, in a bagel that sang freshness.
My only gripe was the price point, being that this breakfast (the bagel and a small orange juice) cost me AUD 21 (thanks to an exchange rate giving 0.72 USD/1 AUD at the time). I get that locations in NY are costly, and understand the overheads of the food service trade – but this was bordering on overpriced. No bagel that tasty and flavoursome justifies such a high price point.
Did Marijuana become legal in NYC like Colorado and California, etc. Because, there has got to be some great vaping or edible consumptions happening to make Black Seed so popular. These bagels are awful. I've been holding my tongue because I try not to be torching and negative on Yelp, but they Do not taste good, and they are a complete Joke.
Agree to Disagree perhaps? Or maybe you just share some of what you are smoking and I'll go back to zero F's to give about black seed bagels. yah?, ok , thanks.
Come here early for the fresh bagels!
I stumbled across this place by chance walking through the neighborhood looking for breakfast.
It was a nice find. The place is small but cozy. You walk in and get hit with a smell of bagels and they've got plenty. Actually they have 8 different types: plain, poppy, sea same, salt , rye, everything , multigrain, and multigrain everything!
I got the multigrain everything bagel with sausage , eggs and cheese.
How was the food? Not bad and not amazing. Just your slightly above average bagel. It is a little
Pricy for what you get but its the city so everything is pricier…
Overall a pretty decent experience here. I'll have to work my way through the different breakfast options they have.
Come check out the black seed if you need a quick delicious breakfast.
small line on a sunday morning around noon. i would prefer to buy their bagel and make my own sandwich. while the number one was good, for $13 seemed like a bit of a rip off (gone in two minutes). their bagels are very good, as is the service, but i would prefer to diy when the bagels are just $1.50 (which is a steal). check it out for yourself, its been on my list for a while and it was good
The bagels are small and the hole in the middle is quite large so all your toppings fall through! They were beautifully warm and chewy though.
