Blake & Todd
“We didn't even try it for a while, just kept passing it trying to find quick efficient-looking delis; the chandeliers I guess were too intimidating and fancy-looking.”
“Fresh mozzarella, tomato, & basil on focaccia bread with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, & pepper.”
“Sauce wasn't too sweet and just the right amount of each topping.”

I am not impressed at all with my experiences here at Blake & Todd. Since this spot is so close to my office, I visit here occasionally with my colleagues for breakfast and lunch. Blake & Todd features fresh, make as you order, and quality gourmet foods. Gourmet, I agree with but definitely not quality.
I'll start with what I did like. I do like the fresh salads, juice, and the bakery goods like their brownie. Egg breakfast items are not too bad too especially when you get to hear and see the cracking of fresh eggs into the hot, sizzling grill. Plenty of room here for any one who wants a sit down breakfast. Plus, it is pretty clean.
What I am definitely not impressed with is quality. Oatmeal here is watery and its toppings are stale. The quality breads and wraps; I can promise you, I can find all the brands in a local grocery store usually on sale. Buffet is considerably okay, depended upon what you choose. If you are a regular coffee drinker and/or coffee lover, don't bother with their burnt coffee.
And what bothered me the most is the lack of quality in character of a manager. One busy morning with lines of customers, a manager decided that it was a great idea to scream and embarrass one of her employees. No matter what the employee did wrong, pull them aside in private to have a talk with them. That totally ruined the customer experiences for me and the surrounding customers judging by our dissatisfied looks right after. Unprofessional.
There are better gourmet venues that exhibits quality in surrounding areas. This is my last visit here.
I came across this place when trying to find somewhere open in Midtown on a weekend to pick up some breakfast! I really liked it. The decor of the place is really nice and there was plenty of options, all made fresh in front of you.
The staff weren't the friendliest or that helpful, but I'm not sure I would be working that early on a weekend!
I picked up the breakfast wrap with egg whites. It tasted fresh and was really good. Be warned they are hot! It felt like it took forever to cool, but when it did, it was delicious!
I would definitely recommend this place as a good takeaway lunch spot. The salad bar looked great. I will remember this spot if looking for food in this area again.
Blake and Todd has a sandwich bar, pizza oven, quiche, soups, salads, and a steam table. The location is bright and cheery and well laid out. They even have seating for about 12-15 with communal bar top tables in the back and along the windows. I tend to go for the steam table and overload on vegetables. Too bad I forgot how expensive this is. Steam table is $6 a pound, which is easily a $15 lunch. Staff are fairly nice though.
I love sandwiches, but not something which is bad tasting. I went for a simple Veggie sandwich and got 2 slices of cucumbers and tomatoes, a lettuce leaf and a bread! This is so not happening! The sandwich was bland, dry and was literally screaming for some more veggies. Plus it was pricey too at 7.95$!
Their hot and cold buffet always includes something creative and delicious. The brussel sprouts are great. Today I had their chipotle mini burgers (no buns!) and they were delicious.
A bit pricey compared to other delis nearby with the exception of Cucina & Co. This place's buffet is priced about the same as that establishment's but the choices are much better at Blake & Todd.
Haven't tried the deli / pizza counter yet.
Why put bagels out at 11:45am but refuse to serve breakfast? All I wanted was some cream cheese….
I really don't have much to say about this place.
Its as Bland as it gets.
The only best part about them is, its across the street from my work.
So when I am really hungry and short on time and don't really care what I eat as long as it curbs my hunger, that is when I come here.
Its like popping into a 7-11 or McD, Nothing special here.
I realize that I went to this place out of sheer convenience, and there are WAY better bagel options in the city, but after a night of drinking I wanted a starchy, delicious, NY bagel and my hopes and dreams were all shattered in the first bite. The bagel tasted like it was packaged up and frozen for months before thawing out to serve for the public. It was dry and not doughy/how a NY bagel should be.
Coffee was fine and the girl at the cash register was precious – super friendly. Her cheerful attitude made up for the miserable girls taking the food orders. Noted to not return. Irving in Grand Central Terminal is WAY better.
