Came here the other day for lunch with a friend
Pros:
– Absolutely love the decor – so cute and chic (the pop of turquoise against the black and white is stunning)
– Great place to chat with a friend – noise level is minimal but finding seating during specific hours might be difficult
– Great service from the employees, extremely attentive and helpful
– Free mint-infused water – extremely refreshing
Cons:
– The food wasn't stellar – everything was extremely salty (from the avocado toast to the salami sandwich) – disappointed since so many yelpers loved the food
Came here for the first time for breakfast on the 4th of July. Not too crowded. We ordered: Avocado toast $8, BEC + LT (bacon egg cheese lettuce and tomato) $9, Smoked Salmon Bagel $11, farm fresh coffee $2.75. Everything was fresh and delicious. My favorite was the avocado toast simple idea with their creative twist to it. It came with chili honey and smoked salt with a nice crisp country bread. They also have a small wine menu and The table next to us were enjoying mimosas. Didn't try any of their baked goods but they had an assortment on display that looked so delish. Staff was super friendly, those kind of people that bop their head to the music and actually enjoy working here.
This place is perfect for a hand-crafted fresh hassle free breakfast. Decor was clean, simple yet chic. White walls with Tiffany blue accents and etch a sketches make this place so inviting. Would definitely recommend this place!
I found this gem and knew I had to come here even though I was only in New York for a week. I had the rustic chicken sandwich with a chai tea latte and it was so good! The sandwich was fresh and flavorful and I liked the ciabatta bread. The chai tea latte was one of the best I've ever had and served in their signature turquoise mug. I also tried my friend's avocado toast with smoked salmon and it was great!
I would definitely recommend this place for a cup of coffee or lunch! The location itself is cute and well-branded. I loved their coffee sleeves!
I love coming to Blank Slate for a light meal after a workout class at 305 Fitness a few blocks away. They're open until 9pm on weekdays which is a huge plus, since I have yet to find another healthy spot nearby that's open late for dinner. I usually come around 8pm for dinner and the seats are about half full.
On days that I'm not feeling too hungry, I go for the avocado toast, which is served all day even though it's listed as a breakfast item. The avocado comes drizzled with chili honey and smoked salt, so it's a little spicy! Definitely an interesting take on the classic avocado toast. On my most recent visit here, I decided to get the roasted turkey sandwich, which comes with sauteed kale and butternut squash (and normally cranberry goat cheese too but I opted out of that). The sandwich was delicious, and was also served an arugula salad on the side.
They have a s'mores dip for dessert that looks amazing, but unfortunately I don't think even coming from a high intensity cardio workout could justify me ordering one of those for myself. I'll have to bring some friends to try that!
This is a very satisfying cafe for breakfast or lunch. Blank Slate seems to be known for their avocado toast, which I'm sure is very good, but my friend and I wanted more and we ordered sandwiches. We tried the lamb meatball sandwich and the rustic chicken sandwich, both were excellent and we'd get them again. The coffee is very good too. Watched some others get breakfast specials that also looked delicious. This is definitely a place that has a foodie edge to it with the flavors and ingredients. Blank Slate has about eight small tables and two common tables in the center, complimentary water is available while you wait for your made-to-order food. The cafe is very clean, it's open through the afternoon and mid-evening, the menu has diversity. There's not much negative to say, other than it's likely crowded at lunch and it's a little 'NoMad' pricey, but it's a quality spot and I'd love to try more of their offerings.
I love Blank Slate! It's my favorite hideout in midtown! In the middle of the urban jungle that is full of chain coffee shops, run of the mill delis and pizza parlors, Blank Slate stands out for being totally unique – serving delicious sandwiches and small plates.
I'm a fan of their breakfast sandwiches – particularly the Truffled Goat Cheese served with a sunny side up on a toasted focaccia. So good!!!
The Avocado Toast with chilli honey and smoked salt is totally unique – you do need to develop a taste for the spicy honey, but after a few bites, you'll come back for more.
The Garden Vegetable sandwich with sprouts, avocado mash, hummus and assorted veggies is excellent too.
Must mention their strong, potent blend of coffee – it's rich and overpowering and will have you coming back for more.

Wonderful breakfast and quick too. Order at the counter and find a seat. They bring food rather quickly too. The coffee was strong and tasty. The breakfast sandwich was a bit messy and had a rather tasteless tomato. It was still yummy. My husband pointed out that his latte cup was smaller than my coffee cup and that is why I couldn't give this place 5 stars.
Plus you can have some fun with the Etch A Sketches near the clean restroom.
Over the past few years, places have started popping up all over the country serving breakfast and lunch that try to bring the freshest, most local ingredients possible. Blank Slate Coffee + Kitchen is one of these places, and they've gotten everything about it right. Advertised as "quality dining with neighborhood charm" this cute little spot in the NoMad neighborhood is a little bit of everything. Marketplace. Coffee bar. Wine. Breakfast. Yup.. they have it.
It's a small little place, and if you're not arriving when they open, expect a wait. The husband and wife duo that runs the place are very hands on from what I hear, and they do a pretty good job of helping you find a table so you're sitting down when your freshly made-to-order breakfast arrives. While we were preparing our coffee at the bar, they came up and told us which seats we could have. Plan on communal eating though.
All of us ended up ordering the hardwood smoked bacon scramble which included caramelized onions and aged cheddar. This dish came out piping hot about 20 minutes after we ordered with some not-so-hot toast that could have used a bit of orange marmalade or Nutella or something to go along with it. I decided I didn't need the carbs anyway, and was perfectly satisfied with my scramble. In fact, I couldn't even finish all of it.
The other folks sitting at the opposite end of the table went with the granola parfait, and had I seen it first, I would have sworn to the person bringing out my food that they forgot my granola parfait. It looks delicious with seasonal berries served in a beautiful while bowl. They say you eat with your eyes.. I don't know how anything was left for the people who actually ordered it after I was done.
Blank Slate also gets bonus points for having almond milk on the coffee bar. Thank you for this!
In addition to the cafe, Blank Slate also has a cute little marketplace where you can get a variety of drinks, jams, sriracha cheddar corn puffs, marshmallow cookies, espresso beans and a variety of other things. Ordering food is also available on their website.
