  1. If you find yourself in the Financial District, don't hesitate to grab a drink or two at this cool dive pub.

A bunch of us came here right after the market closed for a few holiday drinks.

Lots of space by the bar, good services, and decent prices if a beer drinker.

  2. Decent little dive bar in the Financial District. Its close to both the newly rebuilt World Trade and 9/11 Memorial, and also the Staten Island Ferry. An okay place to unwind after a hard day's work on Wall Street. I ordered a Malibu Rum with cranberry juice. It was sweet with the right amount of tartness, just what I needed to end the day I had.

  3. We were looking for a quick bite for lunch before visiting the Ground Zero memorial. We walked in and saw a lot of home cooked favorites written on the chalkboard and thought we'd give it a try. We weren't told about the cafeteria style buffet line in the back of the "bar", but were handed menus that had a variety of sandwiches and other bar food. We ordered the reuben to share and it was quite good and large enough for two. But, the fries were overcooked and mostly inedible, and the wait staff and bartender seemed annoyed to have to wait on us. The place was loud and obviously filled with locals who "knew the drill". It would have been nice to have known about the food in the back but no one told us. Not a tourist friendly place, in keeping with the unfriendly reputation of New York City.

  4. Walked in, smelled like urine, walked out.

  5. MT bf used to work next door to this bar, so we come here every now and then. This is a dive bar and before the renovation it was a lot more dive! But cheap drinks and every one knows everyone else! What's not to like?

The only down part about this place is they don't play music for whatever reason, they have a jukebox, but no music unless someone pays for music…

  6. Divey pub with $10 PBR pitchers and lots of large tables for large groups of disenchanted city employees to gather after work and have surprisingly lively ideological conversations about their dreary jobs.

Plastic cups. $20 credit minimum. No one will bother you except to clear away empty pitchers.

The entire back portion smells like pastrami. The bathroom has one of those "Too wasted to function? Get a taxi by texting this word!!" posters, framed, right at eye-level. It's the hallmark of only the diviest dives, and I love the shamelessness.

The food looks terrible and languished on steam tables in the back throughout the hours we were there (oops). Luckily this is the kind of place where you can expect to be hit with a sudden, non-negotiable craving for Chipotle instead. Even luckier, Chipotle is right up the block! Serendipity! (Or parasitism, either/or!)

  7. As the name suggests, you must come here and kiss the floor in order to gain the gift of the gab.

Actually, definitely, don't do that. In my brief stint at 'The Stone', I saw no less than 4 cockroaches. One of which was overzealously stomped out by the barback who had been stalking it "all day".

But don't let that turn you away! Rush through those doors for some of the finest boiled meat sandwiches on this side of the Atlantic. They pair nicely with Bud Light and midday golf tournaments.

  8. The people at this bar are nice.  They are open and in a place where nothing else is around during off hours when you may need to talk in the south ferry area.  It is not stone street.  This is very no frills.  However, sometimes, no frills is all you need…
