Came in on a lazy, slow Tuesday. Made the mistake of taking a table rather than the bar. Greeted by server Rupert…. Checked in and got my sangria. My gf and I ordered apps- the tacos were nice, flavorful, small soft shells and messy. Mofongo was tasty. Looking for our server for more drinks- couldn't find him. Another waiter helped us. Waited over 20min for last app to come out. Why so long ?! Cause superstar sever forgot to place that order. How do I know? I asked him after we finished both apps and 2 rounds of drinks. He went to the computer- typed it in, few min later the calamari came out. Be honest and say you forgot! He didn't. Went to the bar myself to get my own drink. Lousy service on a slow night.
On average, everything here is about ~$1 cheaper than the Blend on the Water. This location is a lot smaller but I feel like the menu here had more to offer. Only drawback here is the size and the fact that everything feels like a tight squeeze here – pother than that the food is great and the drinks are good.
In lunchtime I was around LIC and was a bit hungry, so I put out my yelp app and start to look for a good place to eat. After seeing a few places and reading a few review, I decided to try this place because was very closed where I was and have a lot of good reviews from my friend list.
They have a great variety for lunch I went for the Arroz con pollo (chicken & rice blend). The arroz con pollo was absolutely delicious, the meat was very tender and the rice had a good taste, so far the best one I had in a restaurant, the portion was far enough to fill me up, this disk also came with a few pieces of maduro with make it perfect to eat with the disk.
The staff was great, fast and friendly. I really recommend trying this place if you are around.
I been coming here since it opened and I just realized I have never reviewed. I really liked this restaurant I even celebrated my 30th birthday here with about 25 of my friends and family.
They always are really nice and the service is on point.
I like that it's Latin fusion food for when you don't really feel like something in particular.
They also have a great brunch on the weekends.
The space is not too big but not so small you feel crowded in.
I do recommend reservations since sometimes it could get busy especially for dinner
I feel bad giving Blend a low rating but THIS ONE IS FOR DELIVERY. I ordered the ropa vieja lunch special from seamless. Time quoted was 45-55 minutes, but instead it took them 2 hours. I could have even overlooked the slow delivery time and assumed they were busy but the food was ice effing cold! It's pretty infuriating to have to heat your food delivery up in the microwave WTF. I'm home sick from work today and this made me even crankier than I already am. I live just a few blocks from there BTW so that shouldn't have been the issue.
Blend has some pretty good food and some pretty good lunch specials, but eat it there or pick it up yourself! Yes, I'll go back but I will def never get delivery from them again. Lesson learned!
The service was good. The atmosphere relaxing. The food well then there is that .. I was not impressed at all from the presentation ( which is none ) to flavor or texture .. It was lacking I felt like I had a salad I could make if I was tired and just did not care cuz I'm just hungry… The caipirinhas well I'm will just halt while I'm ahead ….
Only go to them when they have a lunch special. They are very pricey and the portions do not match up with the price. I was very disappointed because their food is good just not worth the money.
BTW you have to try their empanadas super delicious. They have a menu item that gives you all the flavors. It totally recommend you order this plate. You must definitely have to try their alcoholic beverages.
What better testimony to a restaurant than saying we came back twice in two days?! (I knew my daughter would like this place.)
So, it seems like every night there's an alcohol special. First time in — Monday — half price bottles of wine. Second night, BOGO mojitos. During happy hour, several drinks — including frozen margaritas — are priced at $5. The margaritas were perfect (for me, anyway.) Tasty, potent and big. For $1 more you can get flavors. My daughter and I can attest to the deliciousness of strawberry and coconut.
We shared an order of mofungo as an appetizer. Not the best I've had — but very nice. We split a large salad three ways (ample as a starter.) Our entrees — shrimp, pork, chicken — were well-received. The sauces were redolent of garlic and other spices. Very good. Many of the entrees are plated with black beans and rice. We split a dessert — it could've been bread pudding — and our waiter brought a freebie portion of flan. Yummmm…. and definitely good public relations.
Vernon Boulevard reminds me of cool Brooklyn neighborhoods. The stretch is filled with interesting restaurants and shops. One stop out of Manhattan: Vernon Jackson Boulevard on the #7. If you go — and I encourage you to do so — check out Blend. Good prices, great food, friendly staff. Nothing lacking!
