  1. Having the foresight back in 1995 to capitalize on the craft beer movement that has simply exploded in the last 5+ years is enough to earn them 5 stars. Blind Tiger is one of the OG pioneers of the craft beer scene.

The space isn't that large, but there are some nice tables around along with a fireplace perfect for the cooler weather. They have an awesome selection of 30 tap beers, which makes them a great place to grab a drink especially if you are waiting to eat elsewhere. Although I understand they have a killer menu that I haven't a chance to try.

So why 4 stars? Not a big fan of being ignored by the bartender who had time to flirt and talk to the guy sitting directly next to me then proceed to walk away lackadaisical. I know I have that resting bitch face thing going on, but I swear it wasn't towards you! Luckily another bartender took pity on me and served me as soon as he looked my way.

Anyway, I doubt you will have the same experience as me (you're too cute!) go and have a drink at a true original!

  2. Ahh the Blind Tiger. I have been here a handful of times now and it is always a good time. If you are a beer lover, then this is the place for you. I usually visit these guys, whenever I am in the city. Not only do they consistently have great local beers on tap but their prices aren't too bad for the city. The bar tenders are also pretty attentive and their location is perfect for a night of bar hopping and just a few blocks from the PATH train.

Be forewarned that it is a small bar which means it can get packed easily. If you come on a Friday or Saturday night, you can expect to be shoulder to shoulder with everyone inside; however, stop by during the day, and you have a nice, cozy bar. I have not yet tried the food, but will surely check it out one of these days as I know I will be back.

P.S. John's Pizza is right across the street. If you haven't been, consider this time to kill two birds with one stone.

  3. Great place to grab a pint in the West Village. I know there are lots of choices in this neighborhood for bars, but Blind Tiger offers a wide variety of brews and they also serve food. Space can become limited in the evenings almost 7x a week  and late night on weekends.  If you are a beer lover, there is usually something for everyone to choose from, including some rare and unique brews.  They typically have a lot of local beers from the Tri-State and New England areas.  Bartenders are pretty nice but often rushed due to the high volume of patrons.  I haven't tried the food but they seem to have a good menu and will definitely check it out in the future.  This is one of my go-to spots to grab a beer when I'm in NYC.

  4. If I'm in the West Village, I always try stop in. I recommend first checking out what they have on cask. The most recent visit, there were two excellent IPA's to choose from. But then check out the extensive draft list on the board. Wow. It doesn't get better. Not surprisingly, this place is often packed, but it's worth dealing with the crowd. I've tried various food items here, and all were fine, very good pub food. As someone else commented, the ideal is to get a seat in the window and settle in with a few rounds.

  5. Great down to earth atmosphere and expansive list of rotating beers. The bartenders are really friendly and talkative. Blind Tiger also has great bar food. My favorites include the wings, pulled pork, and lamb burgers.

  6. A treasure.
We were in search of a good tap house in the area. After a 12 minute walk, the Blind Tiger Ale House was our new favorite oasis.  When you have a 'Tiger' bar, what better than an equal uniquely named beer.  That's what I opted for – the Radiant Pig Gangster Duck American Red.
The bar itself is a great place for food, conversation and of course BEER.
With 20 or more selections on draft, a good menu board with enough descriptions to guide in the ordering, the Blind Tiger delivers.  Add to that a friendly fast and knowledgable bar tender and you are in for a grand night of flavorful drinking.
    Cheers

  7. Enjoyed a couple of beers at Blind Tiger after brunch on Sunday with another couple.. Love this place!  The atmosphere is very chill, the craft selection is on point, and the staff is super knowledgable.  I think they recently had a jacks abbey tap take over bc lots of jacks on tap.. Usually hard to find in these parts.  Beers are somewhat on the pricey side, but hey it's Manhattan.

There was plenty of seating and they had a fire going which added to the ambiance.  This is by far one of our favorite craft beer bars in the city and the fact that it's in the village makes it even better.  Will miss this one with our upcoming move to Texas!

  8. Wasn't here for long, but long enough to try one of their IPAs from a pretty extensive list. Bartender was nice enough to provide samples even though he was pretty busy.

Prices are reasonable – probably $7/8 for most beers.

It was pretty crowded on a Friday night, so don't expect to find empty seats. Atmosphere was ok – I would come here if I wanted to try a new beer but relocate elsewhere afterwards for the rest of the night.
