This review is based on strictly my experience with alcohol. So basically on the only thing that matters 😛
Cheap and delicious frozen alcoholic drinks with free chips and salsa, YES. I've been here a couple of times and every time I've tried the red bulldog which is a coronita on top of a boozy red berry/punch flavored slushy. Or that's what I think the flavor was.
Anyway, it's awesome! It's a chill environment and the servers are readily available with my drinks if you need or more chips and salsa.
I haven't been to this physical location, but I have seen this chain a lot around Manhattan. I ordered food here and it was delicious. It came in 30 minutes, which was wonderful and the food was still warm. I like that they're very accommodating to regular and vegan diets. However, I am a lover of cheese, especially in Mexican food, but that wasn't available except for vegan cheese for their vegan options I believe.
I ordered their vegan wrap lunch special and it was so wonderful. It was $12 but had a fully loaded burrito with spinach, lettuce, mushrooms, eggplants, and a nice grilled pepper/onion mix. However, when it was wrapped and cut in half, one half had all the greens and the other had all the fillings. Still delicious though. It came with a tofu bbq sauce which was much thinner than regular BBQ sauce (BBQ sauce is vegan and I would have preferred that instead). However, it also had a big helping of salsa and chips included! And a salad packaged nicely in a plastic container, which I appreciated. I really like Blockheads and will definitely consider going to the physical restaurant soon.
I did not really know my roommates before moving in. We came here on one of my first nights for margaritas. It was great! We sat outside on a lovely October night and drank margaritas while munching on chips and salsa. We had a great time and the staff was so friendly!
Not bad! It's great that they have vegan options and all, but it seems like many of the veg items on the menu is a variation of the other. You really can't beat the happy hour prices! Pretty solid choice if you're looking to carb up.
Service was great!
Pretty fresh "American" Mexican food. I think their lunch options, while not many in number, are definitely enough to satisfy anyone at a reasonable price. I know I next need to go back for the fancy drinks, though!
I have always heard of blockheads but never took the initiative to go. But one day i did go. And it left me saying is this is.
One afternoon i went and i was seated right away. The waitress explained the small menu and what drinks they have.
I order the tacos and rice and beans and a tequila drink.
It was jothing to root for just what was expected. Nothing big. Just a mexican meal with a drink. I feal any local place around anyone can do the same job.
This place is crowded, the service is decent and the food is ok. The main highlight of Blockheads is the drinks. The drinks are strong, really good and reasonably priced. For food I ordered a burrito and though it was pretty good, I paid extra for guac ($2 extra) in my burrito and also ordered sour cream on my burrito, both ended up at the very bottom of the burrito, completely melted and slowly leaking out on to my plate. If they guac hadn't been extra I might not have minded as much but come on… who wants a leaky burrito with poorly distributed ingredients? It was just a mess. I might go back for drinks but I wouldn't go back for food.
Blockheads is the restaurant that I don't like enough to actively seek out on my own, but it's never bad enough were I don't want to come back.
It's great for a casual outing to get cheap, strong drinks and decent food. Unfortunately the service is pretty slow, and mediocre at best.
